World Suicide Prevention Day is being observed under the theme ‘Working together to prevent suicide’ in befitting manner here today at the Auditorium of Zonal General Hospital,  in a campaign to raise awareness of the scale of suicide around the district and the role that each of us can play to prevent it.

Suicide is a mental disease causes by multiple – factors primarily due to breakdown of love affair especially in youths, socio – economic, addiction, family dispute and stresses, psychological or behavior, failure in life and so forth are cited by various speakers and suggested its preventions.

Elaborately deliberating on the suicide as resource person, Amanso Chai Sheristadar JMFC – cum – Civil Judge Khonsa,  Tirap district suggested strategies to prevent increasing suicide cases in Lohit. “Earlier Dibang Valley topped in suicide cases in Arunachal now Lohit is equally suffered and every another day we hear suicide which is serious cause of concern. We together needs collective approach to deal with this menace to avoid precious lost of life”, he exhorts.

Assistant Commissioner Sunny Singh  putting light on suicide said that every death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues. Yet suicides are preventable. “We should help counsel and approach psychiatric to get rid of it. Life is precious we need to face every challenges and learn to win”, he suggests.

Dr S Towang DPO, Dr SM Singh DMO in – charge, Dr C Tayang Medical Superintendent also suggested various reason and its remedies to prevent rising suicide.

BK Jayanti from BRAHMAKUMARIS suggested most effective means of preventing suicide is imbibing spirituality which moulds positivity in one’s life.

Meanwhile, Skits presentation from Krick & Boury Memorial  School, Govt. Hr Secondary, Govt. Sec School Telluliang and Tamlanagar also sensitized comprehensively on the issues. In which KBM and Tamlanagar School were adjudged first and second in their presentation.  Earlier, literary competitions among the school were also held and prizes were given to those winners. Two minutes of silence was also observed to pay homage to those who committed suicide to mark the day.

Doctors and staffs from Zonal General Hospital, Teachers from four schools, parents, NGOs, CALSOM & AMSU members and student were actively participated on the day. The program was organized under the ageist of District Mantle Health Society, Lohit.
