While continuing their crusade against drug menace in the district, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) carried out a rally at Sika Bamin village under Sille-Oyan Circle here in East Siang District to protest against drug menace, drug abuse, drug trafficking, illegal sale of IMFLs, housie, tambola, gambling etc on Saturday.

An awareness campaign against drug abuse was later conducted by WASE at the village community hall which was attended by Gaon Buras, Anganwadi workers, Ashas, AdiSU, village youths and elders, representatives from ABKWW etc.

As youths are rapidly falling prey to drug addiction at an alarming rate in the villages as well as in the towns so more efforts are to be put in now to stop the spread of the menace called drug abuse, so, WASE is conducting awareness campaigns and rally in the villages, schools and person to person campaigns.

Now in almost all the villages, women folks have started indulging in gambling which is hampering the home atmosphere, neglecting their duties and responsibilities of a mother.

When a women neglects her role of a mother it affects the children and children tends to go wayward, so women should stop gambling and focus on her children, opined Mrs Yamik Dulom Darang, President WASE.

Death is the only truth that does not changes in this world. Once you are born you will die and we cannot change, hide or escape it, so why we should be afraid of death. Every mother should join this fight against drugs, every mother should fight back against the drug peddlers to protect her children, said Mrs Jaya Tasung Moyong General Secretary WASE and urged the women folks to join in the fight against drugs.
