‘Oriah’ festival of Wancho tribes of state celebrated with full traditional gaiety and fervour in capital complex here at festival celebration ground at Senki Park today.
On this occasion addressing the huge gathering Minister Tourism and Tax & Excise , Jarkhar Gamlin said that our tradition is our culture and we need to protect it for our identity. We have been celebrating several festival by different tribes of state and mostly have a message to unite all members of different tribes and community for peace, prosperity and development.
Gamlin while congratulating the organising committee for having such mega festival celebration by the community and said that there is a need of maintaining diversified culture. Our culture have lots of traditional value which help us in preservation of our identity and culture.
He said that festival celebration comes under culture and it have no relation with religion and said no one should misunderstand it.
Gamlin further appeal the general masses to use traditional attire and also use local dialects which will encourage our younger generation to carry forward the legacy of our tradition and culture in state.
Guest of Honour Special Secretary to CM Hemanshu Gupta emphasis on unity among all section of society and celebration of all tribes festival with full attire. He said that the traditional attire and colourful dress of different tribes of state itself show the rich diversity of the culture and tradition and appeal to maintain and continue so that the culture and tradition of the community is preserved which identity and signify the rich culture of the tribal’s.
Parliamentary Secretary (legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs)Laisam Simai attending the function as special guest said that our tradition is our culture and we celebrate such festival which help us in gathering at a place and exchange our happiness together and dance and sing and enjoy as all major festival celebration for a bumper harvest.
He appeal the people to upheld the culture and traditional value of the community and society of state for our identity.
Festival celebration Committee General Secretary Abom Ngoan also address the gathering.
The day long celebration which include bamboo dance, war dance, several cultural extravaganza and prize distribution of the sporting events held earlier etc.
