Ujjwala Diwas under the aegis of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was celebrated successfully in Papumpare district. The occasion also marked the release of 216 nos. of LPG connections in the district under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Minister, (UD, TP, UIB, Housing, Law & Justice, Land Management), Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Rebia graced the event as Chief Guest at Mani in Doimukh Circle and addressed the gathering.
He informed that under PMUY Rs. 1600/-, being the cost of LPG connection is being borne by the Govt. of India. He further informed that the present State Govt. is additionally bearing Rs. 990/- being the cost of cooking stove so that the benefits of this scheme can be reaped even by the marginal and poorest section of the society.
He highlighted the importance of usage of clean cooking fuel with regard to health, economic, safety and environment benefits.
He urged the gathering to create further awareness among the eligible beneficiaries and to avail the full benefits of this welfare oriented Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
He also instructed the implementing agency (IOCL) and District Administration to ensure that benefits of the scheme reaches to the maximum and rightful beneficiaries.
The LPG Panchayat in Doimukh was organised by IOCL in collaboration with the District Food & Civil Supplies Department and with support from M/s Papumpare Gas Agency, Doimukh.
Ujjwala Diwas was successfully observed in Balijan, Sagalee and Kimin also and LPG Panchayats were organized and were addressed by ADC Balijan, EAC Sagalee and EAC Kimin respectively and F&CS inspectors.
Observation of Ujjwal Diwas successfully promoted amongst the rural consumers, the safe and sustained use of LPG through peer group interactions. On the day, IOCL also informed that the villages of Kokila, Yupia, Deep, Durpa – I & II, Kakoi, Emchi and Doimukh HQ are targeted for converting into smokeless villages.
Report of observation of Ujjwal Diwas have come from Ziro under Lower Subansiri district and distributed 73 sets distributed, at Anini under Dibang Valley district where 21 nos have been distributed, Tezu under Lohit district where 24 sets of stove and gas were distributed and 21 in Doimukh Circle respectively.
