KVK Namsai has been successfully organised one day awareness cum training programme on ‘Cultivation and processing of Aromatic plant’ under CSIR AROMA Mission” under the flagship of CSIR- NEIST Jorhat at Kumari Adivasi village of Aspirational district Namsai.

At the very outset Dr. Manish Kanwat, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Namsai emphasized the need for a Synergistic approach such as medicinal plant cultivation and its product marketing for doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.

Dr. Mohanlal, Scientist, CSIR- NEIST Jorhat explained the uses of natural resources for generating the self-employment avenues among the rural youth by adopting the cultivation of Medicinal Aromatic Plants.

He also explained the package and practices of improved and high oil content varieties of Lemon grass and citronella which may helps to fetch the best return.

During the awareness programme team of scientists have elaborated all the issues were raised by the group of farmers in respect with marketing and processing of essential oil.

Dr. Santosh Kumar SMS KVK, Namsai also numerated the benefit of Lemon grass and citronella cultivation in terms of rupees per hectare and cost of cultivation and protection from stray animals. Total 110 farmers were participated under the training programme.
