100 Hours Training Programme on Skill Development in Medicinal Plants concluded today here at Rajiv Gandhi University with distribution of certificate to the trainees and motivational and encouragement speech by the dignitaries which was began from November 12 and concluded here today.
The valedictory session of 100 hours long training programme on medicinal plants organised jointly by Department of Botany of RGU and Arunachal ENVIS Hub, PCCF Office Itanagar titled “Value addition & marketing of NTFP (Medicinal Plant Origin)” sponsored by Arunachal ENVIS Hub, Department of Environment & Forest, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar under Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) MoEF & CC GOI. There were 15 participants participating in the above mentioned programme representing different district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Addressing the function RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha, graced the occasion as Chief Patron, emphasized on maintaining high degree of ethics while doing business with natural resources.
He emphasised on skill development in medicinal plant sector as one of the priority area in Arunachal Pradesh, and urged the trainees to utilised the knowledge and skills learnt during training course in right direction and be an expert in right identification, cultivation and market linkages of medicinal plants for Socio-economic benefits of grass root community.
He also tells the trainee to be a model scientific farmer of medicinal plants and become a job provider instead of job seeker.
PCCF (Environment & Climate Change) A.K Shukla who graced the occasion as Patron and Special Invitee of the programme have informed the trainees and students about ongoing environmental conservation and training program. He urged upon trainees to be alert and help in sustainable harvesting and management of medicinal plant resource of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
RGU Registrar Prof. Tomo Riba, urged the trainees to put in practical utility of the tools and techniques learnt from master trainers and resource persons.
Head of Department of Botany, and Training Director Arunachal ENVIS-RGU Programme Dr. Hui Tag, highlighted the learning outcome of 100 hours training programme on medicinal plants and contented that knowledge and skills imparted to the trainees during such rigorous training schedule would go a long way in enhancing capacity building and sustainable management of medicinal plants in Arunachal Pradesh.
Coordinator ENVIS Hub PCCF Office. Robin Dohu briefed about relevance of Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) in the context of Arunachal Pradesh and urged the trainees to take advantage of such training and capacity building programme.
Convener of the Arunachal ENVIS-RGU Programme Dr. Oyi Dai Nimachow also spoke on the occasion.
The top Resource Persons and Master Trainers of the training programme who are doing commendable research in medicinal plant sector of Arunachal namely Dr. Pallabi Kalita Hui, Dr. Chandan Tamuly, Dr. Budhen C Baruah, Prof. A.K Das, RGU, Prof. A.P Das, Visiting Professor were felicitated for rendering yeoman service to the region.
