Arunachal: State to create Anti-Riot Battalion- Bamang Felix

State Government  have cleared for creation of Anti-Riot Battalion to deal effectively with law and order problem- Bamang Felix, Home Minister, Arunachal Pradesh.

 A road map has been drawn to initiate measures to regain Arunachal Pradesh’s lost glory as the “island of peace”, with involvement of all stakeholders, including community-based organisations and students, Home Minister Bamang Felix while addressing the media after a review meeting at PHQ said

The new proposal -‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan’-is aimed to reduce crime and violence in the state by taking “strict action against those trying to destabilise peace”, he said.

The ‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan’ will be launched soon by the Chief Minister.

While referring the violence in recent past Felix said that the state has witnessed widespread violence over the past few months, the killing of Khonsa West MLA Late Tirong Aboh and ten others in militant attack, PRC incident and several other the state cabinet have proposed for creation of 1000 new post of civil police to strengthening of existing police force while the government have also cleared for creation of Anti-Riot Battalion to deal effectively with law and order problem. The file is with finance department which may get cleared soon. Felix said.

With regards to modernization of police force Felix said that the sanctioned Rs 9.5 crore for police modernization of which several equipments like arms and ammunition are being procured and soon will arrived, while several police station in TLC are under construction and hope they are completed soon.

Asked about the alleged security lapses in the Khonsa massacre incident, DGP SBK Singh said, “A joint operation of the army and state police  was launched to nab the culprits involved in Aboh’s killing. The Nagaland and Burma border have been sealed and manhunt is continuing to flash out the killers. While the state government have already decided to handover the case to NIA.

Principal Secretary Home Dr. A C Verma while stated information with regards to case of Late Tirong Aboh said that even the case is handed over to NIA the state police is continue with the investigation.

Among other present at Thursday’s press meet were DGP SBK Singh and Principal Secretary Home Dr, A C Verma, top police officer of PHQ were preent on the occasion.
