Itanagar – UNYY helping hand to fire victims

Upper Niti Vihar Youths  (UNVY) today appeal the well-wishers and general public to come forward and support them in terms of cash and kind to help the victims of the devastating fire accident which occurred on the December 21 at Power House Colony near DCM Bunglow at Niti Vihar. The fire accident in which 13 houses were completely gutted while 2 were partially and more than 70 people remain homeless.  The youths by way of donation box today appeal the general public generously contribute for the social cause on humanitarian ground which would help them in their rehabilitation process.

Itanagar- National Consumer day celebrated

National Consumer Day, themed “Emerging of digital market:  Issue and challenge in consumer protection” was observed by legal metrology & consumer affairs (LMCA) department state wide today along with rest of the country. The Consumer Protection Act, 1986,  a unique piece of legislation got assent from President of India this day in 1986 for which the day commemorates and reminds consumer of their rights and duties enshrined in the Act.

Itanagar- Miss Arunachal-2017

An interactive session for the final 19 contestants of Miss Arunachal-2017 was held on Saturday , before the preliminary (Talent) round of the contest, scheduled for tomorrow. Setting off with the vision to promote more than just beauty, the organizers of the pageant are also stressing on their future prospects as youth icons. Besides aspiring models and college students, the contestants also include teachers, engineers and sportspersons, who have represented the state at the national level.

Psighat- SCCC Searches Location for foundation ceremony 

The Smart City Celebration Committee (SCCC) here in East Siang district on Sunday inspected the area beside the IGJ government higher secondary school for laying the foundation stone for the smart city. Parliamentary Secretary Kaling Moyong, Pasighat Municipal Council Chief Councillor Kaling Doruk and others inspected the area. Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, union ministers Kiren Rijiju and HD Puri are expected to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony, scheduled to be held in January.

Khonsa- AR organised free medical camp 

A free medical camp was organized for the villagers of Khanu village and surrounding villages in Longding district by Assam Rifles (Khonsa Battalion), as part of Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (AR CAP).  A team of paramedical staff of the Assam Rifles under the guidance and supervision of its medical officer conducted the medical camp in which a total of 533 persons, including 156 males, 118 females and 259 children, were treated with free medicine.

Wakro- AMWWS with Beena Ghose Roy Award

based Anu Shiksha Seva Trust of wakro ( in Lohit district ) has conferred its Beena Ghose Roy Award-2017 on the All Mishmi Women’s Welfare Society (AMWWS) for its contributions towards the wellbeing of the society. The award was received by an AMWWS team, led by Shibali Yun Tayang, from Col Venkat Baba of the 82 Mountain Brigade in a function held here on Sunday. Expressing appreciation for the AMWWS’ welfare activities, Col Baba exhorted women activists to make the society free from the menace of alcohol and opium. The officer also urged youths and children to work to achieve their dreams, and advised parents to spend quality time with their children.

Midpu- AAPPTF Training programme 

Members and vehicle owners under the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) underwent a training here on Saturday, during which traffic experts apprised them of the dos and don’ts of road safety. Transporters were also cautioned against using mobile phones, and advised to avoid alcohol consumption, which is one of the primary causes of accidents. AAPPTF President Dobing Sonam informed about ‘Ummid’, a scheme of the federation to provide immediate relief to its members in case of eventualities.

Cheta- Book on Idu Mishmi Shamanic Funeral Ritual-Ya

Former Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) President Jatan Pulu launched the Idu Mishmi Shamanic Funeral Ritual-Ya, a book based on the death rituals of the Idu Mishmis, performed by the Igu (shaman/indigenous priest), at the Central Rehko Hall here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Sunday. The book is the first publication from the IMCLS.A first of its kind, the book is a research publication by Dr Razzeko Dele on the ‘shamanic oral chants and rituals related to mortuary behaviour among the Idu Mishmis of Arunachal Pradesh.’
