Mio- Protest rally
Members of the Tangsa and Singpho communities of Miao, Jairampur, and Bordumsa subdivisions took out a rally here in Changlang district on Thursday to protest the alleged murder of a woman. The protestors, comprising hundreds of people, including students, holding placards and sloganeering in protest, demanded early arrest of the suspect, early delivery of the post-mortem report, and ‘speedy action by the law enforcing agencies as per the FIR.’
Balijan- fight against child marriage
Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) Chairperson, Mitali Tingkhatra, has urged students to fight against child marriage and child labour. She was addressing students and teachers at a legal awareness programme on ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and sexual harassment at workplace’ at the government higher secondary school here in Papum Pare district on Thursday. Highlighting sexual harassment of women at workplace, she appealed to the school’s authority to form an internal committee to prevent sexual harassment and to give justice to aggrieved employees.
Khonsa- Militants apprehended
The Longding and Khonsa battalions of the security forces launched two operations and apprehended three hardcore NSCN(U) and one hardcore NSCN(K) militants . Two pistols with live ammunition, opium, an extortion note, a paper with extortion details, several mobile phones, and other incriminating evidence were recovered from their possession. During spot interrogation the militants admitted their allegiance to the NSCN(U), and also admitted that they had been involved in extortion activities for the last six months, the release said.
Itanagar- (AASSATA) appealed Govt to enhance salary
The All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) has appealed to the state government to enhance the salary of SSA teachers at the earliest. In a four-point memorandum to the chief minister, the association expressed hope that the government would fulfil the promise made by Education Parliamentary Secretary, Pani Taram, to enhance the SSA teachers’ salary and bring it at par with the salary of regular teachers, and to take a decision in this regard in the next cabinet meeting.
Pasighat- AAPHSVF team visits Pasighat
A team of All Arunachal Pradesh Hawker & Street Vendors Federation (AAPHSVF) had toured Pasighat town to take stock of street vendors in Pasighat Municipality area on Dec 18-19 last. The team met the street vendors and heard their problem faced by them while carrying out their activities. They also met the Municipal Executive Officer, Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) A Koyu at his office chamber and discussed the measures being taken up by them to address the problems faced by street vendors of Pasighat.
Itanagar- Department of Ayurveda
Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar has introduced yet another new service – Department of Ayurveda. The service will be led by Dr Oyin Pertin, who will be available for consultation during the normal OPD hours on all weekdays, according to a release here.
