Aalo- Sub Health Centre inaugurated
The Sub-Health Centre at Gemo Tali village was inaugurated by Dr. Mahesh Chai, Minister AH& Vetnary Science, Art Culture and Research amid fanfare at Gemo Tali village on 17 March last. Addressing the gathering Dr. Chai said that government is giving thrust and focus on agro and allied sectors targeting skill development, employment generation and other vistas of youth centric activities to contain growing unemployment problems and welfare of the people. The inauguration of health sub-centre is a milestone to keep pace with the health needs of the rural people and notification alone will not solve the purpose unless sufficient infrastructure and manpower are there to make it functional. He expressed his concern that various tribal dialects, language and culture are under verge of extinction in the name and invasion of modernity and government is quite concerned for oral documentation of such rich dialect, languages and cultural practises from erosion.
Changlang – World Sleep Day
The Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifle on the occasion of the 10th World Sleep Day conducted a lecture at the District Hospital Changlang. The lecture focused on the cultivation of proper sleep habits and the detrimental effects it can have on the body if not imbibed. Three doctors, five nurses and patients attended the lecture wherein this year’s theme “Sleep Soundly, Nurture Life” was stressed upon to encourage healthy sleeping lifestyle. In today’s fast paced world and the quest for quick success the important aspect of adequate sleep has been forgotten and remains the root cause to any lifestyle diseases the doctor added.
Pasighat- Perspective Action Plans
East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak has called upon the HoDs to come up with innovative ideas / proposals in the Perspective Action Plans of their respective departments, so that a holistic and integrated Road map for the district can be formulated for the speedy and all round growth. We must be guided by our Budget Vision, he stressed. The DC also called for taking up Biometric enrolment and Aadhaar card seeding with bank accounts on a war footing , so that all beneficiaries avail CSS schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT).He sought the status of action taken in regard to DBT, while reiterating for Aadhaar seeding.
Pasighat -Anti Drug Campaign
In its efforts to eradicate drug menace from the district, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) East Siang Unit on Saturday organized anti-drug (awareness) campaign at Ngopok village under Mebo subdivision to aware the villagers the ill effects of drugs and illegal sell of IMFL and peddling of drugs etc. Officers, GBs, PRI leaders, villagers and women of all age groups participated. Inaugurating the campaign, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak said that the aim of the campaign was to create awareness among villagers about ill effects of drugs and to educate them on healthy way of life. Administration is ever ready to extend every possible help whenever sought for, he said adding that legal action would be taken against them who indulge in poppy, ganja cultivation, selling and using of drugs including illegal selling of IMFL without licence. He also urged the villagers to stop illegal selling of wine by any shopkeeper and to discourage any kind of gambling in public places.
Longding- Nagaland – Longding Dispute
The Longding District Students’ Union (LDSU) on Friday submitted a three-point representation to the Home Minister Kumar Waii for immediate intervention into the boundary dispute between Nagaland and Longding district. LDSU president Manlem Wangsu informed that since last two years, villagers of Zangkham village under Mon district of Nagaland bordering Longkhow village in Arunachal Pradesh, have encroached and cultivated cardamom in large area measuring hundreds acres of land. Appealing the home minister for early intervention in the matter so that an amicable solution could be sorted out, Wangsu further informed that due to land encroachment another land dispute has been reported between Nokyan village of Nagaland and Zedua village of Arunachal, which created fear psychosis and social tension between the two neighbouring states.
