Tirap-  poppy crops destroyed at Lazu

Tirap district administration and Narcotic Control Board with help of security forces and state police destroyed standing poppy crops in 103.42 acres within Lazu circle.  Longding Deputy Commissioner VS Mallik reiterated that such drives will be carried out in every nook and corner of the district where 3.5 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed in remote villages. He sought the people’s cooperation in the district administration’s endeavour to make Longding opium free.

Bomdila- Bomdila – Dirang road  Black topping complete

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) on Tuesday completed the black topping of Bomdila and Dirang stretch of the most challenging and strategically important Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road.  The 53 km of the road from Bomdila to Rana Camp (Dirang) includes 35 km of double lane and 18 km single lane passing through Bomdila and Dirang towns. The commuters will now experience not only a hassle-free journey but also a reduction in the travel time between the two towns from three hours to one hour and fifteen minutes.

Seppa- ATM running out of cash

 The All East Kameng District Students’ Union ((AEKDSU) on Tuesday said that the people of the district headquarters were facing hardships due to non-availability of cash in ATM booths across Seppa town.  AEKDSU president Chakang Yangda informed that for the last few months, many people, including business persons have been facing lot of problems due to cash crunch in ATMs and in the SBI bank as well. “No-Cash boards are seen at many ATM centres across the city.

Longding-   NSCN (K) OGW apprehended 

The Longding battalion of the security forces apprehended two female over-ground workers of NSCN (K) from Niausa village during a mobile checking on 8 March. Identified as Nauki Jugli and Jamna Lowang, the duo was in possession of Rs 1.2 lakh and four mobile phones, according to Kohima based defence PRO Col C Konwer.  Police also recovered cash from their possession which was extortion money collected from people of Rangluwa village.

Aalo- NFTU Seminar 

North East Frontier Technical University (NEFTU) presented 22 papers on ‘Society, Polity, Legal & Cross-Border Issues in North East India with Special Reference to Arunachal Pradesh’ in its second day of the. The programme on day two witnessed eight sessions on various issues ranging from cross-border trade & conflict resolution, militancy & national expressions, social evils, assessment on development, economic development, governance, tribal issues and tourism. Hirendra Kashyap, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Civil Judge (Aalo), who attended the valedictory function as chief guest, was all praise for the University for conducting such seminar.
