Khonsa- National Integration Tour

A National Integration Tour for the children of Tirap District Arunachal Pradesh as a part of OP SAMARITAN 2016-17 was flagged off from Khonsa on Thursday. The aim of the tour is to acquaint the children of far- flung area with the vast and rich cultural heritage of our country. Altogether 24 children and 3 teachers from 10 Government Schools of Tirap District are participating. Participants  will visits various places of historic in Delhi, and Lucknow. The students will also interact with Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble President of India, Kiren Rijijum , MoS (Home), and Gen. Bipin Rawat  UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Army Staff  during the stay at Delhi. The event will go a long way in not only widening the intellectual horizon of the young minds but also further solidify the spirit of National Integration.  The tour was flagged off  by Tirap Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha, IAS and Brigadier Sanjay Ghosh, Commander 117 mountain brigade. While interacting with the participating children Tirap DC Ravi Jha, IAS appreciated the Army of 117 mountain brigade for organising National Integration Tour for the children of Tirap District  which will definitely help to acquire knowledge through out the tour programme in historical places of India.

Namsai-  Training programme for Rural Women

Awareness training programme for Rural Women at Chongkham under Namsai District was conducted on 7th & 9th March, 2017 by CDPO Chongkham. All together 56 trainees for various villages under Chongkham Circle attended the training programme. First hand knowledge on agricultural activities for supporting & improving family’s Income / livelihood were given by resource persons from Horticulture department and Khishi Vigyan Kendra, Chongkham. The trainee’s were very responsive and receptive. many topics viz. Ginger, Colocacia, Tomato, Potato and Mushroom cultivation and banana plantation were delivered during the training session. Practical demonstration for sowing of Ginger and Colocacia were performed by the experts and trainees as well. The trainees suggested that such training may be conducted from time to time for updating their knowledge and skill so that with better technique they can harvest and earn more from their agriculture activities.

Aalo- IWD celebrated at West Siang 

The Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, West Siang unit celebrated International Women’s Day and Swachh Shakti Saptah in collaboration with PHED in a befitting manner at Gumin Kiin on 8th March last. Giving her goodwill message, the Chief Guest Mrs Swetika Sachan, IAS  Additional Deputy Commissioner Kamba said that mothers should give proper guidance and direction  to girl child  to curve a niche for themselves in different in professions so that they too stand on their own feet in their married life. She also insisted on maximum participation of girls on such occasion so that awareness can be given to them on many issues. She also expressed her willingness to give counselling to few selected girls for preparation of UPSC and State Public Commission Exam on holidays. On the occasion Mrs Lomte Ete Riba was awarded prestigious Donyi Mumi Award 2017 as a pioneer of Arunachal Women’s Welfare Society in the state and recognising her long years of dedicated services for women and social causes right from 1976.

Khonsa- IWD Celebrated at Khonsa 

International Women’s Day, 2017 with a theme “Be Bold For Change” was celebrated at Nehru Stadium on 8th March in Khonsa, under the aegis of WWA “Women Welfare Association” .While greetings the huge gathering of women from various places Tirap ZPC Sontung Bangsia, ZPC, highlighted in length about how IWD celebration was started in the year 1900 adding that even after centuries of struggle for rights of women, women’s discrimination are still prevailing in some state of India. The ZPC said that we shouldn’t forget the great women leaders of India like Sarojini Naidu, Laxmi Bai, Indira Gandhi, Jansi Ki Rani Kalpana Chawla, Mary Kom, Jayalalitha for their immense contributions in making women’s of India names pride. The ZPC urged the women of Tirap to join hands with the District Administration and Government to eradicate the antisocial activities like children addicts drugs ( brown sugar and kani) and opium poppy cultivation from the district. She appealed all Tirap Women to live helping hand attitudes as one forgetting creed, caste, region and religion. She appreciated all the government employees and house wives for attending the grand celebration of IWD. Her speech concluded with a slogan “Long live International Women’s Day”.

Tirap- KCP Cadre Apprehended 

The Khonsa Battalion under the aegis of DAO division conducted a successful operation in Kunsa village of Longding District in the evening of  07 Mar 2017. Where they apprehended a KCP(Manipur based group) cadre Noaba Metei. Naoba Metei Self Style Private of KCP was apprehended based on specific intelligence about presence of one cadre at Kunsa village trying to infiltrate into Indian territory from Myanmar. The battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the Self Styled Private who was donning combats. During spot interrogation he admitted allegiance to KCP, he further divulged that he has been with the banned outfit since July 2016 and underwent basic training at Taga camp. He further admitted to being forcibly recruited by the banned outfit which highlights the evil of forced recruitment carried out by these factions where the youth are forced and threatened into joining these terrorist groups crushing their dreams and further prospects. The parents of Noaba had filed an FIR at Lamlai, Manipur after he was forcibly taken by KCP. Noaba is barely 16 years of age, it brings out the cruelty of insurgents that they forcibly recruited a young boy to lead a life of an insurgent rather than let him study and lead a peaceful life.

Seppa- Swachh Shakti Saptah observed 

With an objective to recognize the contribution of women folk in shaping the society and simultaneously, to stress their role in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a week-long programme “Swachh Shakti Saptah” culminating into International Women’s Day was observed and celebrated in the district by the PHE&WSD in collaboration with Mothers’ Group, Seppa from 1st March last. Celebrating the IWD with the theme ‘Be Bold For Change,’ a mass rally cum awareness programme was organised on Wednesday here at Seppa in a befitting manner with the participation of large number of men, women and children from different walks of life. Extending warm greetings to womenfolk on the occasion, EAC Dr. Olik Taring briefed the gathering about the genesis and events led to the evolution of concept of International Women’s Day. Elaborating about the pro-active roles of a woman, he exhorted the womenfolk to empower themselves with education to become active partners in the developmental process of the society.

Yingkiong- Opium Destruction Drive 

An Opium destruction drive led by ABK, Women Wing district Unit President Mrs Api Kombo and G/S Mrs Anjali Libang within Mariyang sub-division Came to an end without report of untoward incidents on March 6, last. The Upper Siang Unit ABK team was assisted by the District Administration & Police during the destruction drive having destructed 120 Plots. The team carried out destruction of Poppy Plant on 1st March at Mariyang, Millang, Dalbing & Damro, on 3rd March at Mopom & Dapir, on 4th & 5th March at Sibuk, Siko & Bine , on 06th Kolung area. EAC Tatling Pertin, CO Jacob Tabing, DSP T. Tatak and OC Ange Miyu assisted during the drive. President & G/S ABK, Women Wing district Unit extended thanks to the sponsors Er. Gonong Pertin, EE WRD, DDAO & Mariyang Area Integrated Forum (MAIF) others for the drive. Further, the ABK, Women Wing dist. Unit landed the Deputy Commissioner Remo Kamki for whole-hearted support in providing transportation & other logistic supports during the whole process of the drive.

Tezu-  DDMA Meeting 

DDMA Lohit Chairman Danish Ashraf IAS Deputy Commissioner Lohit convened a meeting of DDMA members on Thursday. At the very outset Chairman DDMA Lohit briefed the house emphasized on more preparedness rather than respond and recovery during any kind of disaster. Flood is a regular phenomenon in the district. Therefore he appreciated the way District Administration and other stakeholders managing till today. The main objective of conducting pre – monsoon flood preparedness meeting is to co-ordinate among various agencies during disaster. He also lauded the assistance rendered by BRO, ITBP, ARMY and other central agencies during disaster like Fire accident, Flood, Road accident etc. The SP Lohit Isaac Pertin, IPS recommended more sophisticated and latest SAR equipment for relief and rescue operation. Therefore both DC and SP Lohit advised BRO officials to explore possibility of constructing speed breakers in accident prone areas  within Tezu Town and it’s adjoining villages for public safety. Further DC advised Nodal Agency for Flood Management, Water Resources to carry out preventive flood measures as approved in last DEC meeting. Essential services and public utility services needs to be maintained at any cost during disaster situation. Medical and Civil Supply department were suggested to keep sufficient stock of Medicines and food grains.
