Arunachal : Sports dept felicitates Mountaineer Muri linggi 

Mountaineer Muri Linggi of Arunachal pradesh who scale the Mount Everest on May 14th last was felicitated by sports department.

Mountaineer Muri Linggi (40),  a mother of four daughters belonging from New Abali village, Roing under Dibang Valley district become the third woman after Tine Mena and Anshu Jemsempa from Arunachal Pradesh to scale the Mount Everest on May 14th last was felicitated by sports department.

Rajya Sabha member Mukut Mithi in Roing, was flagged off her expedition on April 5th last but she  started from Roing to Kathmandu on April 7 and started her expedition to Mount Everest on April 12 from Lukla. She reached the base camp on April 20th last.

In order to honour Muri Linggi, a reception cum flag Inn ceremony was organised wherein she was felicitated in presence of sports lovers and high level official of dignitaries.

Parliamentary Secretary (Sport & Youth affairs) Nyamar Karbak while felicitating ,  lauded Linggi for her achievement and making the state proud in the field of Mountain Climbing.

Karbak said that Linggi is an inspiration who has set a clear message to the youths by scaling Mount Everest.  He assured his support in future and appeal the younger generation to learn from her.

Meanwhile, Linggi giving credit to her husband Tamange Mipi (farmer) of achieving this milestone and called Tine Mena her inspiration.

She said that without her husband support she would not have dared to dream about mountaineering with the responsibility of four young daughters.

She also expressed her gratitude towards Minister Dr Mohesh Chai and Roing DC for the undying support in her Everest expedition.

Linggi further stated that she will be ever ready for scaling Mt Everest more and more times if State Government gives sufficient financial aid.

Advocating the scheme “Beti Bacho, Beti Padho” Muri said that every girl child is capable of any challenges like boys and urges people to support daughters to achieve their dreams.

Muri Linggi is working as a peon in a Guru Pahar Government Middle school, Roing for 15 years and did her basic course in mountaineering from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) in West Kameng district in 2013.

She had been a part of the women’s expedition team that scaled Peak Menthosa at Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh earlier.

Chairman (Sport Authority of Arunachal) SAA Bamang Tago, Vice Chairman Doni Nich, Secretary (Sports & Youth Affairs) Dani Salu, Director Sports Tadar Apa, Members Secretary (sports) Ramesh Lingi, other officers and officials of Sports department were present on the occasion.
