Si-Donyi festival of Tagin community of state celebrated with traditional fervour and traditional gaiety. The festival theme this year was ‘loss of culture is loss of identity’.

Assam Mishing Autonomous Council  (MAC) Chief Executive Member Permananda Chayengia attended as chief guest while Department of Indigenous Affairs  (DIA) Chairman Nabam Atum attended as guest of honour on the occasion. The main celebration which was held at the Si-Donyi celebration ground near helipad here today was attended by hundred of people of Tagin community and others.

Several cultural and traditional event including rituals were performed by several cultural troupes and individuals which mesmerised the visitors and audience.

Addressing the function chief guest Chayengia said there are several similarities among the members of Tani clan members and we are brothers and we need to unite and need to become a Tani family. Our culture is our tradition and we need to protect our rich cultural value and traditional attire by which we are recognised world over otherwise a time will come we ay loos our identity.

We need to realised that time have come to protect our culture and tradition for protection of our identity. He emphasis for Tani language so that it may also support us in maintaining our rich cultural heritage. Referring the state as living museum, he also appeal one and all to preserve evidences of our ansisters  and documentary evidence of our further reference to our younger generation of our past for future.

Guest of honour, DIA Chairman Nabam Atum in his address said that DIA establishment very purpose for the protection and promotion of indigenous identity of state. the department have began with strengthening the priest institution and slowly  we are trying to tap the documentary evidences of all indigenous institution of state so that it is preserved and documented for future generation. He assure all support for the festival committee from the department.

Si-Donyi festival celebration committee Capital Complex (SDFCCCC) Vice Chairman Tuter Dolum, Secretary Tameng Kamsar among other address the function.

IFCSAP General Secretary Bai Taba, state RSS Chief Sunil Mohanty, Tagin Welfare Society (TWS) President Er. Tabu Paktung among large numbers of senior officers of state government and other were present on the occasion.
