The Rehabilitation Centre run under General Hospital in Lohit district is on the verge of closure.

Till now this centre rehabilitated over 300 addicts,  and has been catering to helpless people from Anjaw, Lohit, Namsai, Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley districts who find it difficult to get rid of their addiction to opium, drugs, alcohol or from various kinds of substance abuse is unfortunately shrinking due to lackadaisical attitude of the Heath & Family Welfare department of the state govt.

“We have sent several reminders and intimation to the Project Director Arunachal Pradesh Aids Control Society , at  Nahalangun regrettably has fallen to deaf ear causing suffer to the rehabilitation .

We have engaged 4 (four) contingency staffs whose salary has been pending since April 2018 above that more than Rs 3 Lakhs pending bills on medicines as well as other miscellaneous expenditure have made the rehabilitation  crippled to continue.

A meeting was also called at Health Commissioner Dept of Health and Family Welfare Dept on 1st week of Sept 2018 and assured immediate release of the adequate funds but failed”, discloses the sources in the state anonymity.

We have once initially received the fund and thereafter naught, rues the sources.

The Rehabilitation Centre operated on 1st July 2017 and is the only rehab successfully working in Arunachal under the close supervision of Dr S Chai Pul DMO Lohit and Dr S Towang SMO who is trained at the Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Imphal.
