Minister Environment, Forest and Land Management and local MLA Nabam Rebia visited and inspects the Harahapa prayer centre which under severe threat and on the verge of submerge under the dam water. The centre is located in Rose-Jampa Panchayat in Doimukh Circle
The locals claimed that due to heavy rainfall the water level in the dam is rising day by day and now touching the Harahapa prayer centre. On long bachelor barrack have been totally vacated and there is a need of immediate protection of prayer centre campus where 30 believers are staying.
Minister Nabam Rebia who visited the centre on Tuesday, find that the Harahapa prayer centre is in threat by the dam water built on river Pare by North East Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO). He ask the church leader to remain alert of any disaster would be happened.
While talking to media Rebia said that before construction of dam NEEPCO have earmarked the area and all individuals may have duly compensated.
Rebia informed that ‘At present it does not seems severe threat even though i will request the NEEPCO authority to construct embankment and construct protection measures for safety of the prayer centre though CSR scheme of the company. He also directed the DC Papum Pare Dr. Joram Beda to take necessary steps in this regard’ .
Rebia said that the reservoir site of the NEEPCO at Jampa can be converted into a tourist place and few locals can also be getting self employment though construction of cafeteria and restaurants and staging huts etc, he would request the Tourism department to propose such schemes for the same soon.
Harahapa Evangelist Joram Tami said that we are dismantling the barrack slowly, the campus is in threat, due to no proper place for construction of such a huge campus of prayer centre the institution is not being shifted.
More than hundreds of believer come for prayer daily and we need protection measures after vacating few portion of the campus. He however thanks the Minister for granting of 50 lakhs for construction of prayer hall which is completion and need some additional amount for which Rebia assured to provide soon.
NEEPCO officer Rekhi Tana Tara said that since beginning we have been requesting the authority of Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) to construct the road alignment at the height of 250 level but it was constructed at the level of 240 around and some portion of TAH near Saro Nallah- II would be submerged which have experienced recently.
