Arunachal rain: Heavy downpour, water logging bring capital complex to a halt

Heavy rains since yesterday in Capital Complex and its outskirts triggered mudslide at several places and water logging  slowed down vehicular movement on roads.

Due to torrential rain since early morning, few houses and infrastructure were damaged in the twin capital city today. At Lekhi area, 2 OBT houses were submerged and at Upper Police Colony Naharlagun, 2 houses were damaged by landslide. One house damaged in Itanagar-July road.

Several roads in capital complex also blockage and damaged due to heavy downpour, landslide and flood. The road which got damaged or blockage which include Ganga- Jully road , Museum-Panchali road, Naharlagun-Borum road.

Several vehicle also got damaged due to landslide and mudslide in Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) near Railway station at Borum. A portion of TAH between Hollongi-Chimpu also washed away. The road between Doimukh-Potin also blocked for hours together and hundreds of vehicle with passengers were stranded for hours together.

The Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Vikram Singh Malik visited several location in capital complex and took stock of the situation.

The people from those areas submerged in flood water at Naharlagun and lekhi were evacuated to safer locations and also provided with immediate relief by EAC Ashok Tajo and CO Naharlagun Laxmi Dodum  on behalf of the District Administration Capital Complex.

The DC has appealed the denizens of Capital Complex to stay alert and to refrain from staying in low lying areas and vulnerable locations.

The DC stressed that the Working Departments are 24×7 on the ground with man and machinery. However, toll free no 1077 may be called anytime for any kind of assistance.

Report of landslide and road blocked are receiving due to heavy downpour. The TAH between Palin-Tassar in Kra Daadi district got blockage again today early morning. Few houses damaged  at Nimbu Pani Seppa by Pacha river.
