Arunachal Pradesh has always been close to my heart- PM Modi

“Northeast and especially Arunachal Pradesh has always been close to my heart,” said PM Modi  while on a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today here at Lok Kalyan Marg. The PM had a detailed discussion on all developmental and economical aspects of the state. Modi also said that the central government is committed towards Arunachal’s development and welfare.

Khandu-with-Modi-1The Prime Minister hailed Arunachal Pradesh as one of the most peaceful states of the country and commended the simplicity of its people.

Admitting the enormous potential of the state in agri-horticulture and tourism sectors, Modi assured all out support to the state. He said that special impetus would be given on all potential sectors including connectivity and IT sectors.

Khandu informed the PM that the present government has inherited huge liabilities of previous years. He said the situation has been further aggravated by the fact that several schemes of the Government of India now stand delinked, the burden of whose implementation has fallen upon the present government.

Citing that the Central government has accepted the recommendations of the 7th Pay commission, which now needs to be implemented in the state, Khandu said this would add an additional annual burden to the state.

“I can assure you that we are committed to providing transparent and clean governance which would ensure that public money is judiciously spent,” Khandu assured the PM.

 Discussing on various issues confronting the state, the Chief Minister submitted a detailed memorandum to the Prime Minister inviting attention to various developmental aspects of the state and the coordinated support required from the central government. The memorandum included developmental issues, Agri-horti and allied sectors, IT issues, CAMPA, investor friendly policy, pay commission, infrastructure development apart from financial liabilities.

 This is Khandu’s first meeting with PM after his PPA Government joined the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).  CM was accompanied by Deputy CM Chowna Mein during the call on.
