Arunachal- Portable Laboratory will be Introduced in Govt Hospitals

The portable laboratory will be introduced in govt. hospitals of Arunachal Pradesh in a phased manner. This was indicated by Dr Moji Jini, Director of Health Services –cum- Director of Medical Education while addressing the officers and staff at the Directorate of Medical Education, T& R   on  September 08, 2016.

portable-mobile-blood-test-In acknowledging the vital role of Nurses in health-care delivery system, he encouraged them to acquire and utilise the latest professional skills .He stressed the need for up-to-date equipment to meet the challenges in health sector. Further, he informed that the new facility would be very useful during emergencies especially in the remote areas.

The Mobile pathological Laboratory being compact, and easy to operate and carry like a suitcase, can perform the investigations at very low cost as compared to conventional methods. Moreover, the lab is drop-resistant up to two feet .The nurses and paramedical staff can easily handle it after some practices. Powered by an electrically rechargeable battery, the new device can be connected to a Laptop and comes with a solar panel.

It would be possible to share the laboratory reports via WhatsApp thus enabling quicker referral and treatment of patients. Instead of requiring the patients to travel long distances for laboratory tests in the hospitals, the mobile laboratory will reach them at their locations, he added.

Later, Laboratory Technician, Tomo Riba and  Sophia Begum demonstrated the nature and functions of the laboratory. The newly purchased machine will be issued to Arunachal State Nursing School, Naharlagun.

It is learnt that the technology has been inducted into Indian Army, CRPF, BRO, health departments and NGOs in many states of India.
