Arunachal polls: Taba Tedir of BJP returned unopposed

After Kento Jini  of BJP , Taba Tedir, 2nd candidate of BJP  ‘returned unopposed.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s official candidate from Yachuli Assembly Constituency, Taba Tedir has returned unopposed as the nomination paper of the other nominee Toko Yaram of Janata Dal (United) was today rejected by the DEO cum Returning Officer of Lower Subansiri district, informed Kanki Darang, Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Arunachal Pradesh.

With this, the Saffron party is ‘set’ to win two Assembly seats in Arunachal without any fight. The State goes to simultaneous polls for 60-member Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats on April 11.

On Tuesday, Kento Jini of BJP has returned unopposed from the Aalo East seat as the nomination of his lone opponent, Minkir Lollen of Congress, was discarded.

The outcome for the Yachuli seat was delayed by a day as there has been adjournment of hearing of objections which was disposed off on Wednesday.

The Addl CEO said that the BJP candidates could be declared to have been duly elected unopposed immediately after the last hour for withdrawal of candidature.

Meanwhile, as many as seven candidates across the State withdrew their candidature on Wednesday – barely a day after their applications for contesting for the April 11 polls were found valid during scrutiny – before the last date for withdrawal of candidature, which is fixed on March 28, according to the Addl CEO.

Those pulled out from the battle of ballot were mainly the ones who were pitted as substitute candidates or independents. They are – Jonaki Kaye from Nari-Koyu seat, Tsering Sonam from Kalaktang, Techi Nhagu from Itanagar, Tatung Ragyor from Mechuka, Takar Jamoh (Lekang), Kenrik Ete Moyong (Pasighat East) and Eyum Badak Basar from Basar constituency.

There are so far 190 candidate still in fray for the election and only a day left for withdrawal ie 3 PM of March 28. The sources added.
