Arunachal: Plastic bag ban in Anjaw

The district administration of Anjaw district has issued a order on ban of selling of plastic bag in all over the district.

In continuation with nationwide campaign on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and to make Anjaw a border district free from hazardous polythene and Plastic bags, Dagbom Riba District Magistrate cum DC issued an Executive Order to prohibit selling of polythene plastic bags .

“Plastic and polythene bags are non – biodegradable which is adversely affecting the health and pristine environment of the district.

All shopkeepers, businessman and other related establishment are given 7 (seven) days time from issue of order on Sep-03,  to eliminate using of such bags else the materials would be seized/destroyed and violators shall be prosecuted under section 188 IPC and penalized accordingly.

However, the shopkeeper should use paper bags or bio-degradable carry bags”, affirmed the order.

Meanwhile, to make it effective, S Billai EAC cum Executive Magistrate Hawai is authorized to execute the order at Hawai, Walong and Kibitho with the help of police and support staff to submit report fortnightly.

Simultaneously, CO cum Executive Magistrate Hayuliang is authorized to execute the order at Hayuliang, Khupa, Swami Camp, Manchal, Goiliang, Metaliang and Chaglagam areas with immediate effect and submit the report fortnightly, stated the order.
