Arunachal: plantation at Old Football field in Seijusa

A small and self-initiated plantation drive was carried out on Saturday near Pakke River, firing nallah at Old Football field, Seijosa, Arunachal Pradesh by the Dr Topu Tok, Community Health Centre (CHC).

With the help of 20 school students and teacher companied by the NCF, researcher, total 20 to 30 saplings were planted near the Pakke river stretch with bamboo barriers.

Dr Tok informed that the saplings were provided at a very reasonable rate by the NCF, Seijosa in compare to the market rate and NCF researchers had assured to provide more saplings for large-scale plantations. However, with the monsoon advent, the large-scale plantation could not be carried out, he added.

“as Climate Change has fastly affected the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh with rapid deforestation and illegal timbering has affected the Topography of the areas badly.”

“Seijosa too has brunt the effects of climate change as ten years back summers used to be maximum 28 to 30 degree Celsius, but now temperature is rising more than 34 degrees. Hence It was a small effort towards a greener society from young groups to spread awareness about Environment and Climate change,” he adds.
