Arunachal: Nirjuli incident not Communal- SP Capital

There is absolutely no communal angle in the Nirjuli incident and it is a result of a personal feud, clarified the capital SP, M Harsha Vardhan.

In order to dispel various rumours circulating on Whatsapp and other social media  regarding an incident in Nirjuli area, capital police has put out the facts and clarification.

SP Capital M Harsha Vardhan while referring to the incident of August 25 between one Kali Belo and Nyaye Lingri is a criminal act and law will take its own course of action.

Elaborating the facts Vardhan said that on 25th August around 11pm, information was received in Police Station Nirjuli that one Kali Belo has been assaulted by one Niyaye Lingri in Lekhi. Police team reached the spot and the victim was shifted to hospital in Naharlagun in police vehicle. He was grievously injured due to assault using a sharp weapon (dao).

Immediately 2 teams were formed to arrest the accused whose house was found locked. OC Nirjuli  Inspector Techi Nega acted swiftly and accused was found around 3am from pappu nallah area and arrested.

Victim and accused both are from Dumporijo area. They are known to each other. In fact, accused stayed in victim’s house as a tenant also for some time. They have some old animosity which led to this incident. Even now, the accused and victim lived in the same neighbourhood.

Weapon of offence (dao) has been recovered from the accused and he is now in judicial custody.
