Arunachal: NES adopts Govt. Secondary School Pabua

As a part of the school adoption programme being initiated by Nyishi Elite Society, Govt. Secondary School Pabua was today formally adopted by NES team led by its President Bengia Tolum in the presence of local MLA Tapuk Taku, East Kameng DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat and EKSWCO Chairman Dahey Sangno here at Sebibo.

Citing the poor results of schools, particularly in Nyishi belt, the NES has decided to adopt seven schools as model schools this year, one each in all Nyishi inhabited districts. The Committees to monitor and coordinate in tandem with the district and school authorities to improve the academic performances are also decided to be constituted in all adopted schools.

Speaking on the occasion, President of Nyishi Elite Society Bengia Tolum briefed the gathering about the main objective behind the adoption programme which is primarily to bring holistic development in the education sector, particularly in Nyishi inhabited districts, through continuous monitoring and handholding of the adopted schools by developing them into model schools.

Citing examples from his pool of vast experiences, Tolum exhorted the teaching fraternity to create a friendly teaching-learning environment in the schools. Urging them to become good teachers, he further suggested some tips to make teaching a very interesting practice to make students attentive in classes.

Suggesting ways and means to improve the all-round performances of schools, Tolum advised the DC and the DDSE to make surprise visits of all schools in regular interval. To become torchbearers of Nyishi community in future, he exhorted the students to give priority to education only, apart from other co-curricular activities.

Assuring to provide all possible assistance from NES side, Tolum requested the MLA and the DC to extend their valuable support and cooperation in bringing the objective of the adoption programme to a successful conclusion.

The best performing school amongst the adopted schools will be felicitated every year, he further informed.

Terming the day as historic, Town MLA Tapuk Taku, on behalf of all legislators and people of the district, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Nyishi Elite Society for the noble deed.

Pinning hope that all four legislators of the district will work collectively in developing the education sector, MLA Taku urged all stakeholders not to waste the wonderful opportunity of realizing the true objective of the noble cause as provided by the Nyishi Elite Society. He urged all to think and work above party line in bringing comprehensive development of the education sector of the district.

Recalling the work done in upgrading the Pabua School from middle to secondary level, Taku appreciated the then Education Minister Bosiram Siram and the public for their support and urged the DC and the DDSE to accord top most priority to GSS Pabua.

Informing about allocation of fund for the GSS Pabua under CMSSY, MLA Taku urged the students and school authority to keep the infrastructural property of the school as their own asset.

Assuring further to pursue hard for a flood protection wall around GSS Pabua along Pacha River, Taku sought the cooperation of the Nyishi Elite Society in fulfilling the urgent demand.

Appreciating the DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat for his personal initiative of taking classes in GHSS Bazarline, Seppa, General Secretary of Nyishi Elite Society Heri Maring urged all stakeholders to take the onus with same zeal to bring the education sector to its zenith.

Caution against drug abuse and early marriage, Maring exhorted the students to accord top priority to study and adopt the path of hard work to become a successful person.

Expressing gratitude to the Nyishi Elite Society, ex ZPM-cum-SMDC Chairman Rajo Gyadi briefed the gathering about the history, strength of teachers and students, and present status of the school.

Assuring to cooperate and work to fulfill the objectives of the programme, Gyadi submitted 5-point memorandum to the NES team and requested for early transfer and posting of sufficient teachers, construction of 100-bedded hostel and speedy opening of bank accounts for all students.

NES Secretary in-charge of East Kameng Unit Mara Kocho and Chairman of East Kameng Unit Radak Dada also spoke on the occasion.

Cultural display and releasing of dove as a symbol of peace on adoption of the school were the highlight of the event.

A book titled ‘Feminism: Theory & Practice,’ authored by Robin Hissang Tadung, Principal of Govt. Model Degree College Wessang, was released in the event.

Sports items were also distributed to school students by East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organisation during the programme.

The NES team also inspected the school.

NES Vice President (West) Dr. Tachi Taku, NES Vice President (East) Tarh Tabin, General Secretary of ANSU Tukbom Ligu, General Secretary of ANYA Dr. Bengia Tada, host of members of NES, EKSWCO, ANSU and ANYA, HoDs, govt. officials, teachers, students and alumni of the school, GBs, public leaders and general public were also present and witnessed the historic event.
