Arunachal:  NERCORMP changlang conducts executive board of management meeting

The Changlang Community Resource Management Society under the aegis of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project for upland areas (NERCORMP) held its 2nd Executive Board of Management meeting here today. NERCORMP is a joint livelihood project of the NEC, Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India and IFAD operating in the NE Region since 1999.

The meeting was attended by  Tesam Pongte, Parliamentary Secretary, DoTCL & MLA as special invitee and all the Board Members comprising of the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Dist. Administration, NABARD, Community and NGO Representatives along with the NERCORMP District officials.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Wayong Khimhun, suggested that NERCORMP take up such livelihood activities for the benefit of the communities which are tangible and sustainable. He requested the line departments and other agencies comprising the board to extend technical and financial convergence with NERCORMP to achieve larger impact of the livelihood project. He advised NERCORMP team to share the list of beneficiaries with administration so that duplicacy doesn’t happen with other govt. Programmes and proper monitoring mechanism to be put in place for successful utilization of resources.

Sukajit Ningthoujam, District Project Director of NERCORMP, Changlang CRMS gave a detailed report on the status of implementation of NERCORMP project in Changlang district both physical and financial and he also shared the detailed action plan for the year.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Roy, District Development Managar, NABARD, stressed on bank linkage of SHGs, focus on income generation activity of SHGs, importance of the Animal Husbandry Sector in general and Dairy sector in particular in influencing the livelihood patterns of the rural population of the district. He spoke about Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) along with schemes such as GSS viz., NLM, CM’s Sashakt Kisan Yojana, CM’s Krishi Samuh Yojana, Arunachal Agri Start- up scheme, Agri Clinic Business Scheme, DDU Bunker Yojana and CM’s Krishi Rinn Yojana.

Adrian Marbaniang, Director – Monitoring & Evaluation, NERCORMP Shillong stress upon convergence with other line departments and monitoring system should be placed at village level.

Tesam Pongte, Parliamentary Secretary, DoTCL & MLA advice Changlang NERCORMP that the benefit should reach to everyone. The project must show success stories and fund must be utilised judiciously so that deserving beneficiary shouldn’t be left out.

The Board unanimously agreed to all the Agenda placed for ratification by the District Project Director cum Member Secretary of the Changlang Community Resource Management Society. The Board Members agreed to take up schemes in convergence with the project activities of NERCORMP and assured to provide technical support whenever required by the project.
