Arunachal: Nabam Atum appointed as Chairman of Indigenous Affairs

Former APPSC Chairman and renowned social workers Nabam Atum appointed as Chairman of the newly created Department of Indigenous Affairs by Government of Arunachal Pradesh vide order No-DIA-03/2018/125-40 recently.

Nabam Atum, born in 1948, son of Nabam Epo of Priapu Village under Sagalee sub-division, a graduate contested assembly election in 1984 from Doimukh-Sagalee undivided, served as general secretary of APYC, General Secretary of PPA and later contest Parliamentary election from Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency in 1989.

He was Member and Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission from 1994 to 2004.

Prior to this Atum also served as Statistics Inspector from 1977-78 and graduate Teacher from 1978-79 and later as District Information and Public Relation Officer from 1979-84. He was associated with Arunachal Pradesh Sewa Sangh, Arunachal Vikash Parishad, Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society, Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society, Rama Krishna Mission Hospital Management Committee, Governing body of North East Cultural Centre, founder member of Donyi Polo Nydar Namlo.

He was conferred with ‘One India award’ by My Home India organisation for national integration in 2012 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi then Chief Minister of Gujrat. IFCSAP Ratna Award in 2016 by Home Minister Kumar Waii.

Atum have always been associated with the protection and preservation of indigenous faith and cultural movement of state.

Atum while talking to this daily said that he would assume to his office on Monday.
