Arunachal: Mrs Jaweplu Chai, Chairperson DLSA, Yupia Visits OWA

Mrs  Jaweplu Chai, Session’s Judge-Cum-Chairperson District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA), Yupia accompanied by Mr Budi Habung, Member Secretary, APSLSA, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), along with official from APSLSA, Paralegal Volunteers visited Oju Welfare Association ( OWA ) on 13th July 2019.

They were accorded a warm welcome by Mrs Ratan Anya, Chairperson, Oju Welfare Association and OWA staffs. Later Chairperson brief the team on the functioning and the working module of Arunachal Women Helpline-181, a toll free helpline for women in distress and difficult situations, they also inspected Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) within OWA campus who caters the legal needs of the women and child victims.

Followed by visiting the lone Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) of the state, Children Home, Swadhar Greh (a short stay home for women in difficult circumstances), and various other vocation training units running under one roof.

While visiting the homes they interacted one on one with all the women and children survivors and taking cognizance of the issues faced by the survivors sheltered at OWA, they gave several suggestive measures so to provide them better legal aid services and livelihood opportunities. They also assured to provide every possible help in whatever way is convenient.

Later on an interaction session was held at the chamber of Chairperson, OWA headed by Mrs. Jaweplu Chai, Session’s Judge-cum-Chairperson, DLSA, Yupia and Member Secretary, APSLSA Mr Budi Habung along with team from Women Helpline-181 and One stop Centre TRIHMS run by OWA, DLSA, LACs, PLVs and OWA management staffs.

The session was kept in order to provide better coordination and smooth functioning of various functionaries within the OWA premises and the judiciary. During the session a fruitful discussion followed by several valuable suggestion were given, which would ease in pursuing for legal procedures during legal proceedings in the judiciary.

Further they appreciated Mrs. Ratan Anya, Chairperson, OWA and all the staffs of OWA for rendering yeoman services towards the underprivileged and the most vulnerable section of the society. Subsequently data on rehabilitation and other initiative taken for the welfare of the women and child survivors of various schemes was also furnished to them by Chairperson OWA. It also includes cases taken up and present inmates data by various schemes respectively since their inception.

Earlier Member Secretary Budi Habung donated 4 (Four) water filters, a cooking utensil and edibles for the inmates of OWA.
