Arunachal : Mein reviews progress of work of Itanagar-Papu Nallah NH

While reviewing the progress of works of the 4-laning of ‘Package-A’ (NH-415) from Itanagar to Papu-Nallah, Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein expressed serious concern over the unauthorised building construction and earth cutting on the hill sides of the under construction 4-lane highway.

After learning that the payment of compensation for the unsafe structures located in the vulnerable places was already been made, he instructed the Deputy Commissioner, Capital Complex to issue a final notice to the owners of those structures/buildings and also to warn them for immediate vacation of the building.

He said that the Govt will not be held responsible if any untoward incidents happen to the persons staying in such unsafe structures/buildings.

He also instructed the DC Capital to issue notice against the unauthorised building construction & earth cutting and dumping on road by some private parties citing that it not only act as a hindrance to the 4-lane construction activities but it is also dangerous as the hills and mud becomes loose and vulnerable to landslide.

Mein said that people have wrongfully used the widened road for parking vehicles which is causing undue traffic congestion besides hindering the road construction activities.

He asked the DC Capital to regulate the car parking along NH-415 in the capital area from Chandranagar to Raj Bhawan road so that construction activities are carried out smoothly.

He also asked the Managing Director of M/S T K Engineering Consortium Private Limited to expedite the works on war footing and also to construct the retaining wall on landslide prone areas before the onset of monsoon to prevent further eroding of the land for safety reason and to see that no untoward incidents happen during the rainy days.

In the meeting, other constrains in the speedy execution of projects were also discussed in details and DCM instructed the concern departments to immediately clear the utility services like electric poles, telephone poles, water pipeline, OFC cables from the  construction corridor of the highway.

Air pollution caused due to the dust emanating from the open cut surface has also been brought to the notice of the Deputy Chief Minister wherein it was informed that efforts were being made to minimize the effect by sprinkling of water on the open cut surface.

It was also informed that with the direction of DC Capital Complex, 2 nos of water tankers along with water pump has been handed over to Itanagar Market Welfare Association for effective monitoring of water sprinkling.

Traffic Regulations and Security deployments to ensure safety and security of supervisory staffs were also discussed in the meeting.

Among others, Techi Kaso, Parliamentary Secretary for PWD, Bilatee Pertin, Commissioner (PWD), Prince Dhawan, DC (CC), Sagar Singh Kalsi, SP (CC), Toli Basar, Chief Engineer(Highway), SE & EE (Highway), EE Power (C), GM (BSNL), CEO (IMC), Director (Town Planning), Member Secretary (Pollution Control Board) were also present in the meeting.
