Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein dedicated Veer Birsa Munda Auditorium to the people of Kumari Adivasi Village under Lekang Cirlce on 144th Birth Anniversary of the Indian tribal Freedom Fighter, religious leader and folk hero, Veer Birsa Munda which was celebrated in a befitting manner here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mein said that Veer Birsa Munda was not only a freedom fighter for the tribal people of Bihar & Jarkhand but for whole of India. He played an important role in the Indian Independence Movement at the very young age. He said that we must follow the path shown by him for Independence, Social Reformation and Integration. He exhorted the young generations to draw inspiration from his life as he made remarkable achievements at the very young age of 25 years.

He said that at times there was no proper road, electricity, schools and infrastructures in the villages but today we have all weather roads, regular supply of electricity, schools in every villages and numbers of infrastructures. People of the area have also made progress in agriculture and horticulture sectors.

He said,  “I began my active politics about 30 years ago from Lekang Constituency and it has always been my efforts to unite the people of Lekang and take along every community in the path of development”.  He said that he has both an emotional and political bonding with the people of Lekang, which will remain through out his life. He stated that all the 7 communities residing in Lekang Circle have been living harmoniously with mutual understanding and brotherhood for ages thereby showcasing a unique example of unity in diversity. He appealed the people to continue to maintain this legacy and exhorted them not to be carried away by the divisive forces, which are trying to disintegrate the harmoniously co-inhabited people of the area.

He said that any developmental work is for all the people of the area irrespective of the political party one belongs to and there is time to play politics and time to concentrate on developmental works.  In a democratic country like India, all the political parties have an equal right to say or place their mandate before the people and no other party should try to stop another from expressing their views or coming near to the people, he said.

Replying to the memorandum submitted by the people of Adivasi Village, Mein assured to provide fund for construction of a memorial statue of the freedom fighter, Veer Birsa Munda and also for construction of double room concrete block for office cum store in the premises in the next financial year.

He further said that the Veer Birsa Munda Auditorium should be allowed to use for the important occasion by all the communities residing in Kumari Adivasi Village of Lekang Circle.

He informed that the issue of PRC is being examined by a committee formed by the Govt which is considering views from all the stakeholders.

MLA Namsai, Chau Zingnu Namchoom in his speech said that the Veer Birsa Munda was not only a freedom fighter and a religious leader but a social reformer too. He was opposed to Polygamy in those days too.

He also said that under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein not only Lekang but whole of Namsai District had seen rapid development. He added that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Pema Khandu and experienced guidance of Deputy Chief Minister, State is forging ahead in all sectors rapidly.

DC Namsai, Dr Tapasya Raghav have called upon the people to maintain peace and harmony for developmental works to take place smoothly.  She urged the people to come forward and encourage their children for education saying that the education is the only mantra for progress and prosperity.

On the occasion, President of Lekang Regional Committee (AASAAP), Sanjit Urang submitted the memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister while Nokodim Urang narrated the life history of Veer Birsa Munda and Chairman of the Celebration Committee, Joseph Kishan also spoke.

Earlier, DCM paid floral tribute to the portrait of Veer Birsa Munda before inaugurating the Veer Birsa Munda Auditorium.

Adivasi dances and songs were presented to mark the 144th Birth Anniversary of Veer Birsa Munda.
