Arunachal: May day celebrated across the state

International Workers Day (IWD) also known by Labour Day (LD) or Workers Day in some countries and often referred as May Day was celebrated by  all the working class along with many leaders and officers on Tuesday across the Arunachal Pradesh.

Attending the May Day celebration at Nikum Niya ground as chief guest Minister Power, Industry, Textile and Handicraft Tamio Taga highlighted the role as a builder and the labour as foundation of a building and structure which is the root of the foundation of the nation.

Taga said that though the Labour day is celebrated on different occasion but after declaration made by the United Nation Organisation (UNO) the day is being celebrated on the May 1st across the world.

He reminded the responsibility of a labour and as a country men and members of society to maintain duty, responsibility in proper way to get the output in right direction for a nation building. There should be no short coming while delivering the work and short cut system should be avoided. They should also not pressurise the government for making any shortcut system which should be corrected by the community itself.

He requested the labour leaders to stop those labour/workers community who do not actually work and come for attendance and salary and appeal them to disassociate with them and termed it as a ‘bad culture’ and appeal to take a pledge on the occasion.

He emphasis on skill development among the workers community for a better output and quality work. Stating the labour as nation builder appeal the community to deliver their work in the interest of the development of the nation.

He also requested the leaders of the AAPLU to change the flag colour as red to saffron citing various reason.

Guest of honour, BJP Vice President Tame Phassang in his address said that going shortcut for anything will yield nothing but temporary benefit without  any permanent solution for life and sustainability.  Skill person are demanded all over the world for a  better production and output for a quality work and emphasis for skill development among the labourers and workers.

Everybody have born to die and we need to celebrate our life with all festival in different way. He said that the labour festival is celebrated in China as Spring festival while others.

He said that rights and privilege will not come to you but you need to approach, inspire and appeal the government but till the time you should be skilled and enough to serve the society for a better development for several labour rights for benefits of labour and workers community.

He elaborated several schemes implemented by the Government of India under Narendra Modi government. He said that due to certain lopehole ‘ache din have not come to state’ at the ground level due to change of uniform and mindset of working by the leaders, Phassang added.

AAPLU President Dana Tadu, General Secretary Tame Akin, Art & Culture Secretary Tamuk Tabin among other also address the function.

A memorandum was also submitted to the dignitaries pointing five point which include regularisation of senior most casual employees or implementation of VRS, immediate stop of regularisation of casual employees on pick and chose method, reservation of 75 % seat in category of group C & D post in favour of contingency/casual workers, inclusion of right of representation of AAPLU members in DPC meeting, right to conduct head counting system in  every department.    Several cultural items were performed by several troupes from different parts of capital complex which mesmerised the audience

The International labour day celebrated at Tennis court ground at IG Park which was organised by and jointly celebrated by 9 registered trade unions under the banner of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) state unit Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Home, RWD, Labour & Employment and Border Affairs   Kumar Waii said that it was an intentional move to be a minister for labour. I love the labour community and really want to work for the welfare of them. They hold the position of strong base to any society, community or country, Waii said.

Today there is numerous number of labour union in the state promoting self-benefit. This tradition should be uprooted for the better future. In the tag of Labour their demands, their ideology everything is different.

Speaking on the various demands put by the 9 registered trade unions, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) state unit Arunachal Pradesh Waii said that few of the demands are genuine and can be fulfilled but regularization of APB&OCWWB employee but last year the salary enhancement has been done of Rs1500.

But he promised to put the grievances in the state government. Normal death benefit to the registered workers under APB&OCWWB will be cincresed in the days to come but accidental death benefit will remain as same, because its accidental and family does not have to beer high expenses as in normal deaths, Waii said.

We are planning for the labour guest house so that the income generated by it to be inducted in the labours salary. As it will be difficult for the construction of bachelor barrack under capital complex which was the eight demand of the union.

Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary UD & Housing, PWD and Municipal Affairs of state Techi Kaso in his address to the gathering said that, once I have gone through the life of being a labourer to earn money. It is a tough work for anyone normal man and I respect all the labour community of the state, he said.

“A son of a labour will and should be a labour” this mentality should be expunged in this emerging world.  Labour community should not feel deprived and try to let children read and write to put them in the top.

State BJP President Tapir Gao attending the programme highlighted the importance of the day. He also requested and advised the labour community to be strong and fight for the labour rights until it is achieved by unity irrespective of tribe, culture, religion.

Meanwhile Chairman APB&OCWWB and state convener to BMS of the state Jalley Sonam in his address asked those vested groups in the name of labours to stop asking donation and tenders from various government departments.

Unions are formed to put hardship faced by the people rather making DPR, job recommendation and other personal benefits. This is the reason why people look us down, because of individual negative actions.

Wage, bonus and family security of the labour community must be the priority of any leader of the labour, he added.

BMS National working committee member N.Tomba Singh, organizing Chairman Tadung Yangfo, organizing Secretary Ringu Chapo also spoke on the occasion and gave their concern for the labour family/community.

The Joint Working Committee of Arunachal Pradesh worker Union celebrated the International Labour Day at Gumin Kiin amid fanfare today.

Director Siru Rijo Tea garden Yayum Gankak attended as Chief Guest address the gathering and dwelt at length on history of Labour Day and gave their goodwill messages to the labour community. While Hoisting the May Day Flag She exhorted the labour force to discharge their duties efficiently as a working force to be reckoned with.

President. AAPWU Tumar Bagra, highlighted the objectives behind celebrating the day across the world and sought cooperation of all members to claim their rights and duties before the govt.

Pasighat 

International Labor Day was celebrated in pasighat under the aegis of Joint Working Committee  of Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union  (JWCAPTU).

Hundreds of people from different depts. and firms attended the meeting in old solung ground, pasighat market area.

The programme commenced with flag hosting ceremony by East Siang Unit President of JWCAPTU  Maksup Yomso.

Former Education minister  Bosiram Siram attended Labour Day celebration and encourage the labour and trade union for their endless effort in building the society into newer heights.

Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC)  Councillor ward number 12 Kangge Moyong also attended the celebration and express his feeling towards labour/worker community.

Chief advisor to JWCAPTU Tabiram Moyong also enrolled the grievances of the labour community and promised to find a better solution for their sustainable development.

Bomdila

International Labour day was celebrated by All Arunachal Pradesh workers Union of west kameng District under the chairmanship of Sartum Talingso and Secretaryship of Dogra sagro at Bomdila. On this Occasion Er. Aju khunjuju Advisor to Sajolang Elite Society has graced as Chief guest.

Dirang

Parliamentary secy Health, Family welfare and IT cum local MLA Dirang Phurpa Tsering along with DC west kameng District Dr. Sonal Swaroop, ADC Dirang Dagbom Riba, PRI members and labours celebrated International Labour day at Dirang.
