Arunachal: Mama Natung inaugurates Women T20 cricket league -2019

Total 5 teams are taking part in the league. They are Kipa Mero Women Cricket Club, Capital Panthers, Physical Education Department of Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Strikers and Women Rising Cricket Team.

Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Mama Natung on Friday inaugurated the first edition of Arunachal Women’s T20 Cricket League 2019, organized by Kipa Mero Women Cricket Club here at Borum General Ground.

Total 5 teams are taking part in the league. They are Kipa Mero Women Cricket Club, Capital Panthers, Physical Education Department of Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Strikers and Women Rising Cricket Team.

Each team will play 4 matches and the top 4 teams in the point table will go through to Semi-Finals. The final match will be played on September 19 next.

The first match was played between Physical Education Department of Rajiv Gandhi University and Kipa Mero Women Cricket Club.  However the due to time constraint, the match was reduced by 15 hrs.

RGU posed a target of 76/7 from 15 overs, for K M Women Cricket Club to register the first points of the league which they did in style.

Speaking on the inaugural ceremony, Minister Natung asked the players to compete with proper sportsmanship and advised them respect the professionalism of the game.  He told the players to grab the opportunity to make breakthrough to the State Team and also to strive with full dedication to represent the National Team.

“Every great individuals start from a smaller field. And if you utilize any given opportunities, you will be successful as well. But for that you need to have a goal and focus in life,” Natung advised to the players.

Taba Thomas, who contested for the 13th Itanagar seat in State Assembly Election 2019, attended the launching ceremony as Guest of Honour. He also asked the players to shun away from intake of any drugs and tobacco, stating that many have wasted their talents due to usage of drug.

He further said, “Sport is important in our lives not only to keep ourselves fit and healthy but also help to socialize with people.”

On the day, the gathering and players observed one minute silence in honour of Arunachal Cricket Association secretary Tado Kholi.
