Arunachal: Khandu attends 52nd Boori Boot Yullo festival at Dollungmukh

The festival witnessed the grand display of Punu/Jajin and Boori Yapa dance.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today attended the 52nd Boori Boot Yullo festival here along with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and MLA Tamar Murtem.

On arrival here, Chief Minister inaugurated the new Sub-Divisional Office and laid foundation for PWD Sub-Division Office. DCM laid foundation for 100-bedded VKV girls hostel.

At the festival ground here, Chief Minister unfurled the festival flag, which was followed by singing of flag song. On the occasion, CM released an audio album – Kamle Archive II. The festival witnessed the grand display of Punu/Jajin and Boori Yapa dance.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister expressed being amazed by the diversity of Arunachal. He said the diversity that state offers is unchallenged and expressed being proud of it.

He appealed the people to make use of such rich cultural diversity for promotion of tourism. He said foreign tourist come to Arunachal not to get the feel of the modernity but of the true rich indigenous culture that is authentic and pure. He said the tourist visiting to get experience of the indigenous tribal culture is among the fastest growing sections of the tourism industry today.

Chief Minister also appealed the people for preservation of local languages. He lamented on usage of non-local languages in homes and expressed concern over growing number of tribal families in Arunachal interacting with the children in English and Hindi. He said the essence of culture is in the language and without it the very fabric of culture will be destroyed. He therefore requested the community bodies to discuss on the gradual decline of local languages in their community platform.

Speaking on development issues, Chief Minister said considering the vast geographical area of Raga constituency, its isolation and backwardness had accepted the demand for creation of Kamle district, which no earlier governments had fulfilled. He said the state government will continue to support for creation of infrastructures in the district.

On public memorandum, Chief Minister assured to fund for construction of SDO secretariat building here and for repair and maintenance of existing govt office infrastructure.
