Arunachal : Himalaya mein heeron ki khoj

Across the state of Arunachal Pradesh, ONGC limited and NEST  organised a talent scouting initiative “ Himalaya mein heeron ki khoj” in 800 and 1500 mtrs across 8 district

Director Sports Tadar Appa while inaugurating the 800 and 1500 mtrs race talent hunt for boys and girls under 17 said that youths of state should  build up themselves to prepare to take part in 2004 2008  Olympic games from state and other national and international sports.

Appa said that our state is having  lots of potential but need nurturing  and support as well as training from the department as well as. Department of Sports will always support any move for the promotion of games and sports in the state.

it is an opportunity to show their talent which would get an opportunity to move forward journey at regional and national level and lauded the NEST and ONGC for supporting and promoting sports.

Even organiser and Nurturing Excellence in Sports Trust (NEST) Operation Manager Ankit Dhimen in his address said that to identify young talent in middle and long distance running events across the state of Arunachal Pradesh, ONGC limited and NEST  organised a talent scouting initiative “ Himalaya mein heeron ki khoj” in 800 and 1500 mtrs across 8 district which include West Siang Lohit, East Siang, Namsai, Kurung Kumey, Tirap, Papum Pare & Longding.

More than 500 youths turned up in all 8 location from which 38 athletic  were shortlisted who were given two days training under the guidance of the Coach Support Deptt Coach Manoj Pegu and under supervision of   Physiotherapist from Hemo Hospital Dr. Teli Yagam and Dr Vinit from Naharlagun under guidance of NEST official I Chaatterjee.

Four participant have been selected which include Ritu Khanblai fromm Papum Pare, Joti Mane, Batum Remdo from West Siang while Khemlang Wangen from Longding which will undergo training of 1 month either at Itanagar or at Guwahati after the same selection process at Tripura is concluded. He said that such programme is being held at all mountainous state of Himalaya right from Himachal radish to Arunachal Pradesh including all NE state but this time only two state Arunachal &Tripura have been approved. The selected athletics will later stage be the player from ONGC who will play for ONGC and India in any national and international events but they need to get better training and NEST will provide such support.

Dr. Teli Yagam also address the participant and lauded the role of the ONGC and NEST and hope that the organisation continue to do same in other parts of state and every year so that the such youths come up who would also take part in national events.

Adventure Promotion  Officer Tapi Mara, Arunachal Olympic Association Vice President G Doke among other were present on the occasion.
