Arunachal: Governor celebrates Raksha Bandhan with school children at Raj Bhavan

Governor of Arunachal Pradesh BD Mishra  celebrated Raksha Bandhan with school children of VKV,  and social organisations at Raj Bhavan.

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and First Lady of the State Smt Neelam Misra celebrated the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan in traditional farvour and gaiety with schools students from various schools and social organisations of the Capital Complex Itanagar at Raj Bhavan, on 26th August 2018.

The school children and members of the NGOs tied Rakhi to the Governor, First Lady of the State and members of Raj Bhavan officials and exchanged greetings.

Interacting with the children and respected visitors, the Governor highlighted the importance of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ which symbolizes a sacred social ‘bond of protection’.

He said that the noble traditional duty of protection, of the sisters by the brothers and, in equal terms, protection of the womenfolk by the men, with brotherly emotions, is unique to the Indian culture. It is a gift to the world by the Indian civilization.

Raksha Bandhan is the foundation for the collective endeavour towards the wellbeing and empowerment of the women in Indian culture, he said.

Reiterating that Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of humanism, responsibility and sanctity of relationship, the Governor called upon the people of the State to strengthen the endearing relationship among all the folds.

The Governor exhorted the children and members of social organizations to promote and propagate messages of peace and harmony amongst all section of the society, which he underscored as the prerequisite for development and prosperity of the State and its people.

Later the Governor hosted a high tea from the students from Government schools and Vivekananda Kendriya Vidhyalaya and members of social organisation, including Brahma Kumaris and Arunachal Vikas Parishad.
