Arunachal: Gaon Burhas are our custodians says Nabam Tuki

The 27 Foundation day celebration of All Arunachal Pradesh Gaon Burhas Welfare Association (AAPGBWA) concluded at Pareng Circle under Sagalee Sub-division in Papum Pare district  on Saturday.

Former Chief Minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki while addressing the concluding function said that the institution of Gaon Burha is one of the highest system of judiciary and it is the custodian of customary law of Tribal community of state.

The administration of justice as per law and Assam Frontier Regulation Act-1945 should be maintained. Natural justice should be delivered without any fear and favour. Many local case are settled keeping in view of the local sentiments and providing of justice he appreciated the Gaon Burha institutor of Sagalee for their role.

Tuki said that Gaon Burha  are one who protect the traditional value and rich cultural heritage of the tribal community of state.

ADC Sagalee Jalesh Pertin, AAPGBWA President Gichik Lalin, General Secretary Tache lombi among other address the gathering.

Several resolution were adopted in the conference for protection of flora, fauna, wild life and birds, protection of river and environment, stop cultivation of ganja, stop on encroachment of forest, government and community land and others.

Two day programme which include discussion of customary law and other issue, framing of rule , cultural activities and sporting etc.

Later a APST Bus service was flagged off which shall run from ISBT to Pareng via Sagalee daily.
