Arunachal- FIR lodged against CM, Speaker by JACAP

 A group of organizations, including the Joint Action Committee Arunachal Pradesh (JACAP), recently lodged an FIR at Naharlagun Police Station against chief minister Nabam Tuki, home minister Tanga Byaling, parliamentary secretary (home) Likha Saaya and others for blocking road on December 17 and misusing government machineries.

Road Bloackade at Papu NalaThe day was the second day of the assembly session called by governor JP Rajkhowa and the house was conducting a trial of strength against the Tuki-led Congress government.The FIR lodged on Tuesday alleged that supporters of Tuki, speaker Nabam Rebia and Byaling had completely blocked the highway at Papu Nallah near the Bridge Point between Itanagar and Naharlagun for seven hours, bringing traffic to a complete halt causing untold sufferings to thousands of people.

The blockade was imposed in complete defiance of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC issued by the Capital deputy commissioner, it was alleged in the FIR. It also urged the officer-in-charge of the police station to book all those responsible for the blockade under appropriate sections of the law.

They also alleged that the ‘same miscreants’ had destroyed and damaged properties worth crores of rupees that were arranged for holding the assembly session after due permission from the governor at Techi Takar Community Hall G-Sector, Naharlagun.

Meanwhile, The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) reiterated the party’s appeal for peaceful coexistence in the state. At a meeting here, PPA chairman Kamen Ringu urged people not to get carried away by emotions raised on political and communal lines. Party president Kahfa Bengia said, “Being a senior member representing the Nyishi Elite Society, I request everyone to refrain from making wrong use of the pride, honor and status linked with the ‘Nyishis’ for selfish reasons.”

 “In a pluralistic society like ours, if the society has to be made to exist in the most vibrant and colorful manner, excessive and obsessive promotion of a particular community’s interests could be detrimental to the overall growth of that state or society,” he said.
