Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix convened a review meeting on Joram-Koloriang Road with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) represented by its General Manager Prabhakar Kumar at his office today. He was accompanied by Education Minister Taba Tedir during the meeting.

While discussing in length, Felix categorically called the NHIDCL to expedite the work on the strategic road which has been lying pending for long. He said since the monsoon is gradually receding, the primary works like shifting of essential services viz. water supply, power poles etc. should be immediately started in order to facilitate smooth construction of the road.

The 138 Kms of JK road is estimated to cost aproximately Rs. 900 crores. Total 85 numbers of electrical poles and 23039 meters of water supply pipelines have been posing hindrances which needs to be shifted immediately to ease the construction work on the Joram – Koloriang road.

It is worth mentioning that the foundation stone of this stretch of road was laid in the month of December 2018 by the Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and host of other dignitaries. This stretch of road was also in news for the excessive disbursement of compensation for which an enquiry was constituted and those found inviolved have been arrested by the SIC.

The Minister stressed upon the necessity  of  regular reviews and monitoring for  addressing the issues confronted by the executing agency and expediting projects across the state. Felix said that he would take regular reviews on the progress of the road.

Earlier, the National Highways and infrastructure Development Corporation updated about the  delay of highways project and also informed about the progress and future plan regarding the Joram- Koloriang Highway project.
