The Minister for Tourism Jarkar Gamlin call the People of State to explore the own tradition & cultural for tourist attraction, while the attending valedictory function of 5th days papum poma River Festival 2018 (PPRF-18  ) here on Sunday.

Appreciating the initiative of the PPRF-18 Committee members for organizing River festival for promotion and explorer natural beauty of area, local foods, traditional culture etc.

The tourist will be visit our state to see the local tradition, culture, to test local foods, and to enjoy natural beauties of State. So we have to preserve and explore all this for tourist attraction.  He also advice people of area to Promote the Papum Poma area and make it a popular tourist destination.

There is lots of festival or adventure related activity in State, for tourist attraction we have to organize our festival with fully traditionally. He also advice the people of the area also to focus on home stay system.

Responding the one points memorandum submitted by the one of the patrons of the PPRF, Tana Puna, to make the festival a calendar event, the Tourism minister said that he would discuss the matter with the Tourism secretary, but also reminded that a festival has to be conducted three times before it can be considered as a calendar event.

Attending the guest of honour on the occasion professor Tana Showren, advice the organizing committee to celebrate the festival with fully own traditional and all the festival venue should be decorated with traditionally, which can attract to tourist more. Local people can get works and will chance to earn some money.

He also advice the people to preserve and protect wild animal, fish and forest and river because tourist are going to visit to see those thinks. And he also advice the local people to teach their children own language and also own tradition and culture.

Highlighting the history of area and about the Papum and Poma river and said local people believed that  this two river is one is Male and other is Female.

Festival chairman Tacha John and managing director Tadap Camdir thanked everyone for the supporting the first edition of the PPRF, especially the local residents of Kanebung and Tadarboding.
