District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Tawang organized Review cum Re-orientation Meeting of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) at Conference Hall of SP Office Tawang with Police and Transport Dept. Meeting was attended by Sagar Singh Kalsi (SP, Tawang Police), Sang Norbu (Dy. SP Tawang Police), T. Taggu (Station Superintendent, APSTS Tawang) DMO Tawang Dr. W Lama alongwith police personnels.
Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa (District Consultant, DTCC Tawang) explained participants about ill-effects of tobacco use to individual health and its overall harmful effect to the society as whole through Power Point Presentation .
Secondly reviewing of the works were done during last one year by Police and DTC Cell together for effective implementation of COTPA Act 2003 and presented plans and future actions needed to be done by Police and Health department for moving one more steps towards tobacco free
Dr. Wangdi Lama (DMO, Tawang) in his address explained about importance of will power for quitting tobacco consumption and other bad habits and appealed all participants to be a role model among family and society by adopting good behavior and habits so that we can keep young ones away from tobacco abuse and other bad habits, moreover as Nodal Officer of NTCP, he also requested District Police for frequent and effective action against violators of COTPA.
Sagar Singh Kalsi (SP, Tawang Police) while addressing the gathering said that police has vital role to play in implementing and monitoring Tobacco Control Laws and assured full cooperation from district police for effective action.
