Arunachal: DPMSHI & VI students passed class X Board

The 2nd batch of the Donyi Polo Mission School for the hearing and Visually Impaired (DPMSHI & VI)  passed with flying colours which is a good trend among the Divyangjan community of state.

DPMSHI & VI Principal, H Sharma inform that the second batch of the Class X students of the school which comprises of 7 visually impaired and 6 hearing impaired children have passed class X Board examination from NIOS. The students who passed the Board Examination have secured good marks and percentages which seems that the students pursuing education in this school are keen interested in studies and to opt for a profession in the mainstream of their future to earn themselves and stand on their feet for a sustainable lifestyle.

Principal Sharma said that most of the students have taken admission in Montofort Training Centre in Tura and Jyoti Saroth School in Shillong in Meghalaya for pursuing of their higher Secondary education of two years.

He said that the 1st batch of students which passed the secondary education from this school were 3 visually impaired children in year 2016-17 who are also pursuing their equation in the same school at Meghalaya. He said that it is landmark development in the education sector for differently abled children of Arunachal Pradesh as it is the lone school which founded by former Chief Minister Gegong Apang who have a vision to serve the society in different way apart of his political affiliation and activities

In year 1999 it was an era when the school for the hearing impaired was established with a strength of 3 students from Dibang Valley district and gradually the caravan continue to discover all around the state and till date 93 children have passed Class X from the institution. It is proud to say that mostly of the children who passed class X have skilled training computer, weaving, tailoring, waste paper recycling, painting etc and mostly of them have been absorbed in different government department of state and earning for their livelihood and also supporting their family members as well. The school which is running under NGO ‘Donyi Polo Mission’ proving free education to all students.

On other hand the School for visually Impaired was established in year 2008 with a strength of 5 student of Kurung Kumey district and at present the strength of 25 student out of which 10 have passed the school.

He said that the school apart of providing education and skill development it is also giving a rehabilitation to the divyangans students who are most deserving from the government and parents. We have a planning to establish Higher Secondary level education  here itself to give education to our own children and others deserving one but the planning could not materialised due to lack of fund and few other problems.
