Arunachal: Dhawan’s aim to transform Itanagar into cleanest city of India

some initiatives leave behind a mark for everyone to remember, such is the effort of the District Administration to transform Itanagar into one of the cleanest city of India, said the DC Capital Complex Prince Dhawan while attending a programme organised to distribute sanitary equipment to NGOs/Self Help Group  of Itanagar Municipal Council as well as awareness on installation of GPS tracking on Sanitation Vehicles and Geo Based Attendance of Sanitation Staff which  would be the first ever solution being implemented in entire North East Region by any municipal body at the Auditorium of DN College Itanagar today.

He informed that as per Swachh Survekshan, Itanagar was listed 3rd dirtiest city in India in 2016 and 216th cleanest city in India in 2017. However, Our aim is to be bring Itanagar to the top 50 cleanest city of India in 2018, said the DC and sought cooperation of every individual in this endeavour.

He lauded the dedicated team of administrative Officers of Capital Complex and the IMC who are working hard to ensure that the city is clean for their constant cooperation and hoped that they would perform their role to ensure the success of the new initiatives.

He briefed about the new initiative of the installation of GPS tracking on sanitation vehicles that would track the real time movement of vehicles and if in case any vehicles doesn’t come to pick up the garbage it would immediately come to the knowledge of concerned authorities through sms and mail. He also briefed about Geo based attendance system for labours which is in the form of a wrist band that would automatically register the attendance of the labours within his designated work place. The system would thus bring transparency, accountability and effective management and monitoring of garbage collection. He further informed that the details of the driver and labourers are available in the websitewww.itanagar.nic.in and that every ward has a designated garbage collection vehicle.

Highlighting the role of NGOs/SHGs who have been outsourced for door to door collection of Municipal solid waste, the DC stressed that apart from cleaning and collection of garbage, they should ensure timely collection of garbage collection charge. They should also challan every individual who is caught littering or households that doesn’t hand over garbage to the garbage collectors. He also emphasized upon the importance of segregation of wastes into biodegradable and non-biodegradable.

During the programme, the DC also lauded C-1 SHG who is in charge of Ward no 10 Tagru Tadik for collecting the highest garbage collection charge.

Municipal Executive Engineer Er. Tadar Tarang also presented a ppt on distribution of sanitary items, solid waste management and on centrally controlled command system and all other issue of the IMC in making Itanagar clean and green and to become smarter even before.
