Arunachal:  Department of Environment & Forest observed World Ozone Day

Arunachal join rest of world in observing the World Ozone Day  The programme being organised by Department of Environment & Forest here at conference hall of the PCCF office in befitting manner.

Addressing the gathering  Principal Secretary cum Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Omkar Singh said that due to urbanisation, setting of industries, factory and felling of trees it is affecting the ozone layers. We are damaging the Ozone layers by way in many ways, we need to protect it as UV rays which is harmful for human being, animals and plants also. We are equally responsible for its setback and we have to act upon to reduce pollution and emission of smoke and harmful gas. It is also affecting the climate change.

First we should start everything from our home, office and school like switchoff of tubes, fan when it is not necessary, switchoff of vehicle in traffic when it have to stand for more than a minute, close of pipe if work complete. Do not allow the gas stove to continue even if cooking is completed. State Pollution Control Board have given full power and they can check all industry in his jurisdiction and can take necessary steps for protection of environment. Supreme Court of India have also given specific guidelines for establishment of Industry and hazardous industries.  plantation and creation of greenery area before staring of industry/factory and need to take up treatment plant for all waste and disposition products. Minimum use of plastic product etc.

Singh requested the organisers to organise such more programme in different parts of state so that many people get awareness of ill affect of the Ozone day and its preventives measures.

It is responsibility of all to save ourselves as prevention is better than cure. We cannot able to stop depleting the ozone layers but we can prevent it from its speed of depelecting by way of obtaining various measures like planting of more threes, natural use of materials in nature, prevention of nature etc he said.

Presenting the welcome address Director Environment T Sitag said that the international ozone day is being organised with theme “carrying for all under sun” emphasis the youths to be aware for protection of ozone for existence of the earth in the solar system for existence of humanity and suggested various types of dos and donts.

Dy. Director Environment Dohu Robin while said that 154 country is celebrating this day which started in 1994 after finding depleting the ozone layer and various amendment in the law were made which would lead to high global warming and climate change. India is also a member of the treaty organisation for protection from global warming and climate change.

PCCF (P & D) Dr. Rabinder Kumar, IMC Councillor Taba Yall Nabam deliberated on cleanness and minimising of electronic gazettes, DCF (Industry) T Gapak delivered on  taking care of health and environment., RGU Associate Professor Dr. Hui Tag spoke on his experience and study of climate change, State Forest Research Institute Scientist Dr. L. R. Bhuyan, WWF, India Coordinator of Tezpur Kamal Medhi, NERIST Associate Professor   Dr. Ajay Bharati, GBPIHED Scientist Incharge Mahendra Singh Lodhi among other address the gathering.

Interaction session witness question and answers with the students of Guardian Angle school Itanagar

A power point presentation (PPT) was shown by Deputy Director Environment Dohu Robin on the occasion of the affect of ozone layer on earth.

Robin further said that the students who have attended the workshop cum seminar have been given with task for prevention on climate change and global warming and selected best presenters will be given award from the department.
