Chief Minister Pema Khandu called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here today to discuss various issues pertaining to the home department of Arunachal Pradesh. Singh assured all possible help and support to the state government.
Pema also took up the matter of separate IAS/IPS/IFS cadre for the state with Union Home Minister. Presently the state is under the combined AGMUT cadre which is a joint cadre for serving Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and all the Union Territories.
“Officers of the AGMUT Cadre serve for short tenures of two or three years depending on the officer’s seniority. Lack of institutional memory, adhocism in policies and programs and the resultant latent chaos are some of the adverse effects” Pema reasoned.
He further said that in the absence of a dedicated bureaucracy, the state has so far not been able to rise to its full potential. “Therefore, in the interest of development of the state, it is felt that a dedicated bureaucracy will bring continuity in administration. Separation of Arunachal Pradesh from AGMUT is therefore a genuine and urgent need of the hour”, Pema advocated.
CM also advocated for a separate cadre for Arunachal Pradesh during his meeting with Minister of State for Personnel and Training, Jitendra Singh.
The HM and MOS DOPT has both assured to examine the matter and look into it on a positive note.
In the course of discussion with the DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh, Pema referred to the matters pending with the Ministry of DONER and requested him for early sanctioning of the projects. MOS assured to look into the matter positively and promised to extend all possible assistance and support to Arunachal Pradesh.
MoS Home Kiren Rijiju also accompanied CM during the meeting.
