Arunachal: Chowna Mein reviews preparations of Parshuram Kund Mela

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday held a meeting at Tezu with Lohit District Administration and various stakeholders, to review all the preparatory activities related to the organising of Parshuram Kund Mela 2020. The mela is held every year on January 14 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The meeting was also attended by MLA Tezu Karikho Kri, DC Prince Dhawan, SP Dr DW Thongon and all the administrative officers and HoDs of Lohit district and members of Parsuram Gram Seva Samiti.

Speaking on the occasion, Mein said that Parshuram Kund mela is an historic and important festival celebrated in Arunachal. Calling to provide a new look to the celebration of the mela, Mein sought cooperation and coordination from all the stakeholders in order to successfully conduct the annual mela.

He assured that he will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Parshuram Kund Mela 2020 is organized in a befitting manners.

Mein urged all the members to dedicate their time and work force to make the ensuing mela a grand success.

He gave his assurance to support financially, physically and mentally to the Organizing Committee of Parshuram Kund Mela 2020, for the grand success of the said event.

He directed the working departments viz PHED, PWD and Power to ensure timely completion of their entrusted works.

“Energy of the youth need to be channelized in a positive direction”, said Mein and called to engage them during the festival to provide job opportunities to the local youths.

MLA Tezu, Kri said that Parshuram Kund is the pride of the district, with historical and religious significance attached to it. Akin to Orange festival and Tawang festival, he requested the DCM, to accord state festival status to Parshuram Kund mela.

Important issues like traffic control, maintenance of law and order, overall management of the function, prohibition of sale of liquor and non-vegetarian items, regulating flow of devotees were points discussed elaborately in the meeting.

Later, DCM also held a meeting on organizing Golden Jubilee Celebration Tamladu 2020 at Tezu in a befitting manner with district administration and festival celebration committee.

He reviewed the preparatory works related to the celebration of Tamladu festival from all the stakeholders.
