Arunachal: BJP surprise on Dr Mohesh Chai’s defeat from Tezu seat

The BJP candidate Dr Mohesh Chai,  a vocal and versatile minister in Pema Khandu govt. lost narrowly from his rival Independent candidate Karikho Kri by 155 votes.

Surprising and shocked for the BJP party worker, the TEZU Assembly Constituency took a U turn as unexpected. The official BJP candidate Dr Mohesh Chai,  a vocal and versatile minister in Pema Khandu govt. lost narrowly from his arch rival Independent candidate Karikho Kri by 155 votes.

“We have expected 2000 to 3000 votes unfortunately the voters of TEZU – SUNPURA has their choice of candidate. Despite the fact, I thanked the public for the support and casted their valuable votes”, expresses one of the workers.

When contacted Kri discloses his secret mantra of significance victory, he utter in euphoria and said that it was choice of poor and downtrodden people and villagers. “I was earlier reluctant to contest but when the people themselves insisted me to contest.

I made up my mind and slowing people from all walks of life garner their support and lastly I got the mandate”, the Kri pronounces. He thanked the voters of the constituency in reposing faith of his leadership to work for the overall prosperity of the area.

While giving top agenda of development, Kri prioritized peace, development, promote brotherhood, employment, health and education. “I will also pursue all the left out development work of earlier MLA and work according to the need and requirement of people to take the TEZU – SUNPURA in the new height of development “, promises the Kri further.

Meanwhile, in the 2014 Assembly elections, Dr Mohesh Chai of BJP won in this seat defeating Karikho Kri INC’s candidate by a margin of 481 votes distressing Congress workers and the candidate. Kri earlier served two consecutive terms as MLA in 2004 to 2009.

This constituency has 18,644 voters of which 9,476 are male and 9,168 are female voters. Tezu, this time recorded a voter turnout of 83.3%.
