Parliamentary Secretary PWD, UD and ULB and Itanagar Local MLA Techi Kaso while addressing the gathering as guest of honour said that the Bihu is celebrated not only in Assam but in entire North East Region as a festival of rejoicing with other and share happiness and joy.
It is for strengthening ties with all communities residing in the state and region. Bihu is actually celebrated by the people of Assam and Assamese community but here it is a celebration for happiness and strengthening of relationship with all fellow brothers and sisters of state as we have been associated with all our works with Assam counter part in previous days as Arunachal was a part of NEFA and even today.
He assured his all support for celebration of the festival and the people till his last breath and said that he have been doing so for the welfare of the people of his assembly constituency.
Itanagar Municipal Council Deputy Chief Councillor Tarh Nachung, NERIST Registrar R.P. Bhattacharjee, Dean and other faculty members and local people of the area were present on the occasion.
A souvenir of Bihu committee “Jatuka” and a novel “Nojitora” authored by Dr. B. P. Deka was released on the occasion.
Several cultural extravaganza and Bihu songs and dances by various committee from Gohpur, Kolabari, Harmuty, NERIST, Itanagar and several other performed their numbers and Bihu dance by Boro cultural troop which mesmerised the audiences.
