Arunachal:  Army transit camp in Sessa washed away by Flash Flood

The heavy downpour during last two days have made several untold suffering in area of Bhalukpong-Bomdila, Kimi-Khupi road. The worst sufferers are the army transit camp located at Sessa in Arunachal Pradesh have been totally damaged by the massive landslide and washed away by the flash flood.

EAC Bhalukpong, Tomo Riba informed  Arunachal24  that a massive landslide occurred at Army transit camp at Sessa at around 4 AM of August 1. The ration stored, 40 men barrack, generator  room, Arms ammunition room of the said transit camp was total damaged .

22 Jawans which include 1 JCO was narrowly escaped as they were in the transit cap at the time of incident, 1 jawan received minor injuries in the incident.

He said that the massive landslide in the area are due to heavy incessant rainfall since few days and or cloud burst at the hill top in the area which would be the reason of the landslide. No other damaged have been reported so far. Riba said.

Riba further said that the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road already closed by executive Order is further blocked due to slide at seven locations between Pinjoli bridge point to Sessa. Sessa is cut off and not accessible by vehicle.

The team of officer led by OC PS Bhalukpong Dutto Bagra have rushed to the spot and have take stock of the situation there by foot.

The mobile connectivity have been disrupted while the radio connectivity have also been washed away.

 However the army personnel were shifted to another barrack located downside of the said transit camp area.

The project road of NEEPCO connecting Kimi with Pinjoli, Khuffi and Tenga ahs been blocked at multiple location due to landslide and soil erosion.

An advisory have been issued today that there are continuous  landslides, soil erosion, shooting stone and rolling boulders may cause loss of life and property and the raid is unsafe to use for commuters and there is an apprehension of risk of life and property and he advise not to use the Pinjoli-Kimi and Kimi-Khufi road in West Kameng district until it is restored. Riba added.
