Arunachal: AAF’s mission to save the aquatic species

With a mission to save the aquatic species and the riverine system of Pare river, a team of Arunachal Anglers’ Forum (AAF) led by its chairman Bengia Tayu on Saturday interacted with the gaon buras, youth organisations and the public of Rach village near Sagalee in Papum Pare district.
The day-long program had talks on conservation and how it can boost the local economy by promoting angling as a sport.
AAF chairman Tayu urged the youths to put a blanket ban on illegal means of fishing like explosives, gill netting, bleaching, and inverter etc. He told them to practice traditional fishing system for their protein needs.
Stating that Arunachal Pradesh is fast becoming the hottest angling tourism destination in the country, AAF vice-chairman Tope Karga urged the youth to reap the benefits by conserving the fish.
Rach Tabio Youth Welfare Association leaders Tadar Gaga, Tadar Kaku, Seva Nabam and others assured to work in close coordination with the AAF members in its efforts on fish conservation work.
Gaon bura Nabam Sangio also assured to extend full support for the ‘noble’ initiative while narrating how the area used to be teeming with fish and wild animals in the recent past. He informed that the prohibitory order is already in place but would be reinforced further with stricter punishments.
