6 feared dead after flash flood,  landslides, road and bridge collapses  in twin capital city Itanagar and Naharlagun.

in a tragic incident of devastating natural fury in twin capital city of Itanagar and Naharlagun today early morning ,  6 fear dead while more than 100 dwelling housed have been either washed away or damaged.

It may be due to cloud burst,  suddenly almost all the Nallah and rivers of the twin capital city flooded with rain water and  8 person of which 3 members of a same family.

The worst affected is the Modirijo which located in between Itanagar-Naharlagun wherein more than 55 houses  have been washed away of which 18 completely while 37 partially.

In Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan area 3  person,  9 dwelling houses have been washed away of which 5 completely and 4 partially.

 As per the report , 7 vehicle have been washed away or damaged caused by the flash flood water and landslide in different locations .

In other parts of twin city which include 4 housed have been damaged of which 1 completely and 3 partially in Lobi area, 19 houses have been damaged of which 2 completely while 17 partially in Press colony in Papu Nallah area while report of damages of houses from Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic Institute area in Vivek Vihar, Senki View, Chandranagar and other parts have been received.

Due to heavy downpour early morning the movement of life in the capital come to a stand still for a while when the news of landslide and flood fury spread like a wild fire. The capital administration led by Capital Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan, EAC Itanagar Hengo Basar, Capital SP M Harsha Vardhan, SDPO Itanagar Kamdam Sikom, OC Tabi Bage, District Disaster Management Officer Moromi Sonam under supervision of Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso rushed to Modirijo and associated themselves in the rescue operation which began by the administration at around 7.30 am.

The administration immediately called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Chimpu and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Doimukh who were pressed into service to locate  person missing  from DPVB area, Jamijate and Modirijo.

Information received that a body of a minor was retrieved by the public near Papu Nallah, while 1 lady was rescued who was admitted to Hospital who later succumbed to injury

DC Capital Prince Dhawan while inform that the death toll in flash flood in Capital rise to three,  while search and rescue operations are going on to trace another three persons who went missing.

The person has been identified as Mohan Das who, hails from Donyi Polo area was retrieved from Dikrong river near old NIT building in Nirjuli at around 2.30 by NDRF, while the minor  Kojum Beyong aged around 3 years was retrieved from Papu Nallah area at around 6 AM hails from Modirijo while Yadi Regio (F) aged around 40 years from Jamijate area who was rescued with multiple fracture succumbed to her injury in Hospital.

DC said that approach road to Modirijo has been completely washed away while half of the culvert has been reported to be damaged in Donyi polo area. A huge culvert at Senki View have been washed away while a hanging bridge connoting Press Colony with Kering Pare colony have been washed away.

A few cars and bikes have also been reportedly swept away in the flood river.

Two more persons were also rescued who, are presently undergoing medical treatment, Capital SP M Harsh Vardhan informed while search and rescue operation was continue till late evening for missing three person and was stopped due to darkness and will continue again at around 4 morning SP said.

Altogether five teams from NDRF and four from SDRF including capital police led by the SP were undertaking rescue operations since morning.

Capital MLA Techi Kaso is personally supervising the rescue operation and directed the administration to arrange blankets, utincils and other essentials for the victims. Kaso had also arranged food.

The capital administration has set up two relief camps – one at Modirijo government primary school and another at Donyi Polo government primary school for the victims.

Land protection wall of several nallahs and stream in the state capital have been badly damaged and few of them have washed away.

Itanagar PHED Asstiant Engineer Debia Padang informed that the water plants at Poma and Itanagar were damaged and pipelines have been damaged at various location  causing disruption in water supply to the Capital denizens.

Small water intake point have also been affected and the denizens of Itanagar townships would face crisis of drinking water for next two days for temporary restoration. Padang said. He appeal the denizens to have patience.

Capital MLA Techi Kaso who visited almost all the area which include Modirijo, Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan area, Lobi, Senki View, Chandranagar, Police colony, RGGPI Vivek Vihar, Chimpu, Papu Nallah and other parts of flood affected area of twin capital city and meet the affected people and supervise the rescue operation.

He assured his full support to the affected people and also appeal the general public to come forward in supporting the people in need. He also appeal the people living in low lying area and on the bank of river side to immediately vacate those vulnerable area and shift to safer places or stay in Relief camp designated in several places in capital complex for few days.
