Arunachal: 23rd State Karate – Do Championship – 2018 begins

Sports & Youths Affair Minister Dr Mohesh Chai formally declared open the three – day 23rd State Level Karate – Do Championship 2018 here at the Amik Ringya Cultural Hall.

Encouraging the Karatekas as a chief guest on the inauguration ceremony, Dr Chai extended deep gratitude to all the 9 (nine) Gold Medallists at First North – East Olympic Competition held at Imphal recently.

 “Out of ten gold our state received 9 gold were in karate only which proved our youngster have huge talent in Kerate”. “I m optimistic that the state Karatekas would bring laurel for India during the upcoming 2020 Olympic to be held at Tokyo Japan where Karate has been included in Olympic game first time in the history”, he hopes.

 While appreciating satisfaction over the rapid growth of infrastructure in the late starter state like Arunachal, The Minister said under Khelo India Abhiyan the Central govt has given top precedence. An opportunity is being facilitated at rural level to hunt talent as well, he adds.

In extending kudos to the budding upcoming sports star in Arunachal, Binay Bidre General Secretary AVBP Bangalore as a guest of honour said Arunachal is in top five in Karate in national level and first in North East level which is a sense of pride. “Karate is a martial art for defence purpose and good for both body and mind that needed to be promoted”, he says.

B Marik State GS Arunachal Karate Association (AKA) and Dr SD Sharma AKA founder and Technical Director also spoke on the dubious beginning of the Karate in the state and how since last 33 (thirty three) years Dr Sharma has promoted and struggle hard for the sport was felt deeply.

In his welcome speech Jablong Krong President All Lohit Karate – Do Association said karate in the district has been encouraged since 2006 and Lohit and Anjaw are doing wonderfully well and brought medals in both international and national level, The 23rd championship (15 – 17) Nov is being organized by the All Lohit District Karate-Do Association under the aegis of the Arunachal Karate-Do Association.

Overall, 593 players, 20 Judges, 35 Referee, 24 Manager and Coach from 23 (twenty three) districts are enthusiastically participating in the championship.  Besides, Karma Leki DC, Dr DW Thungon SP Lohit, District’s Officials and public also witnessed the inaugural function.
